I stayed there one night. The hotel is close to old Town of Modena. The room was not big, but enough size. Good soundproof when window is closed. But the air conditioner didn't work and it was impossible to sleep.
The breakfast was good, but only cold meals.

Rooms are clean, beds are a bit hard but ok, air con didn't work but the windows opened so that was ok. Breakfast provided from 7-10am was good and had a lot of options. The hotel is only a short was to old town. Would stay again.

With really easy access to central Modena the Estense offers what are quite basic rooms, albeit very clean and tidy. But is a bit expensive for the facilities offered. The highlight is the the buffet breakfast.

The hotel is nicely located close to Via Emilia. You can walk to the historic center. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit dated but everything works. The rooms are nicely equipped. There is a small parking lot behind the hotel but it is always full. You can park around the hotel but make sure you get a parking permit from the reception. If the spaces around the hotel are also full you can park in the big parking lot behind the hotel with the parking permit from the hotel for free. I had my doubts about this but I asked the parking inspector handing out parking fines and he told me I could park there. The breakfast room is on the first floor and you can eat all you want. Sweets and salted breads, nutella of course! Nice hotel

The staff at Hotel Estense are friendly and helpful...maps, calling taxis, recommendations for restaurants, etc. The location is terrific...on the perimeter of the historic center and walking distance to sites and the train and bus stations. Our room on the 4th floor had a view over the the buildings toward the Duomo which was lit at night. All was clean and the bathroom included amenities. Beds were comfortable too. We spent some afternoon time waiting in the comfortable ground floor lounge before catching a train and also stored our luggage easily both before and after checking in/out which allowed us more exploration time. The breakfast buffet is superb and provides a great start to your day. I would return here and I recommend it to others.
