My husband booked this totally gorgeous apartment which is beautifully decorated, light and airy. Especially loved the fact that the sea was just below our window. The most wonderful part was the lovely hospitality we received from Maria, Paulo and Maria's lovely friend Rita. It was my 50th birthday 2 days before we arrived and Maria was so excited when she realised. A few hours later Paulo arrived at our apartment with a gorgeous lemon tart and a bottle of home-made Proscecco! Fabulous restaurants very nearby. We would return to Rio Maggiore and this apartment in a heartbeat!!! Highly recommended!!! Trip Advisor award extremely well deserved!!!!

My wife and I stayed here in early May 2012, and we both thought that this place definitely deserves its excellent rating. The room was on the cliffside overlooking the sea, which was great to listen to at night! Paolo was a great host and loves meeting and talking to his guests. He made a lemon cake for us that served as breakfast and lunch for a couple of days. We will definitely be back!

My daughter and I visited Paolo and La Scogliera in the middle of May. We were thankful to have made it after encountering one of Italy's famous train strikes! We made it with many thanks to an amazing Italian lady who guided us with the help of our Italian translator book. Our room was perfect. The sound of the ocean and calmness of the area was a welcome relief. Even mommy seagull below our window squaking to her babies at 4:00 in the morning was a delight. We were greeted with a delicious bottle of homemade Limoncello and the next day a homemade strawberry torte which was absolutely delicious. We even transported the leftovers to our next stop - Venice! If we had to pick a place anywhere in Italy to return to ............. THIS IS IT!!!!!

Thank you Paulo - see you again.....

La Scogliera had a perfect view of the sea. We stayed in the bedroom the first night and the apartment the second night. We didn't make anything in the kitchen at the apartment but it was useful to have the fridge to store juice and yogurt. The cabinets were stocked with oils, seasonings, and pasta. We got there late at night and it helped having looked at the website for directions from the train station to the room. There are some stairs you have to climb so pack light! It was in a great location though. It was an easy walk to the center of the town [go to Bar Centrale for great pastries and coffee!] where there are restaurants, shops, and a perfect little grocery store for fruit, drinks, and snacks. We also walked on the Via Dell'amore to Manarola one night for dinner. Paolo and his family were very friendly and helpful, though communication was a little tricky at times :) Definitely recommend!

Wife and I stayed two nights in May 2012. Great views from the room and the sound of the ocean was amazing (although it took a little getting used to!). Paolo is a great host -- made us a lemon cake and some Lemoncello -- wonderful! Riomaggiore is a great little town -- our favorite amongst the Cinque Terre.

Fantastic views, great location and amazing people. We stayed in the apartment over Easter weekend of 2012 and Paolo and his family made us feel totally at home. They even suprised us with a homemade pie and wine on Easter morning. During our stay, the coastal trail was only open from Riomaggiore to Manarola and from Monterossa to Vernassa, so walking the whole trail was not an option. We didn't find this to be very dissapointing, as the train runs to all of the villages and the views from the apartment were grand enough to want to just sit all day with a book. We did end up doing a ridge hike above the villages that started in Riomaggiore and was basically free of tourists. The apartment has everything you will need to cook your own meals and there are a couple good grocery places in town to get what you need. This was more than enough space for my boyfriend and I, and aside from the main bed, there are also pull down bunk beds in the bedroom if travelling with kids. This place is perfect. Don't pass it up!

We stayed one night in the room (April 2012) and found it to be a wonderful place. The amazing view from the window with the sound of the waves, the delicious food in the village, the friendly hosts and the breathtaking scenery made this an unforgettable first visit to Riomaggiore. I wish we could have stayed longer and next time we will! When we come again, we would build our itinerary around the availability of La Scogliera...it was that good.
