I have travelled to many foreign cities and always use the Sightseeing Bus to get my bearings. Probably due to the narrow roads, this was a very short journey of less than an hour with the route kept to near to the port and until it reached the centre at Ferrari Square and back. Photo opportunities were limited due to the bus they used which had a restricted view due to its plastic roof and the safety bars around the side. We later walked the same route and got much more pleasure. This is a pity as normally I recommend everybody to use these.

Always do these tours where available as for the price €10 you get an instant overview (it takes an hour) of the main tourist sites in town. The ticket is valid for 48 hours and you can get on/ off as often as you like. The bus is open topped but there is a pespex canopy to keep you dry if it rains. Commentary is OK and the music between announcements is not that bad.
It is worth the money - actually it is good value!

We were on a mediterreanen cruise and visited many cities among them was a 4 hours city tour of the main attractions of the city.It started by a boattrip from the cruise ship via a small boat to the main city harbour in the middle of the city and it was a very nice visit ! Noting to complain about.

My wife and I have enjoyed similar sightseeing tours in other countries but we both thought this was expensive for what it was. Fifteen Euros for a drive through the town, largely in heavy traffic, with a particularly long stop in Piazza de Ferrari, although there were no tourists waiting to board. The best way to see Genoa is on foot. Also, at the time of our visit, unbeknown to us and not announced until we were getting off the bus to walk there, we were prevented from visiting La Lanterna (the lighthouse) due to increased security.

We took the open top bus from the port so that we could see as much of the city as possible. After completing the first full round we stayed on until we reached the centre of the town and the went to explore the places that we had seen from the bus. We were then able to get back on the bus to go back to the port, which meant an inexpensive trip to the city.
