My husband and I decided on Quattro Pass after both our Rick Steves book and our AirBnB host recommended it. First, it is on a romantic little back street in a quiet part of Varenna. The ambience was perfect and the service made it even better. We started with the melon with prosciutto, which was especially good since the melon was in season. Our main course was risotto with lake fish, which was incredible (and we are not usually fans of fish). They brought out a little palette cleanser between our first two courses, which was a nice touch. Finally, we ended with the best (and prettiest presented) tiramisu we’ve ever had. Seriously. This restaurant, away from the touristy places right on the water, but close enough to enjoy an evening stroll on the lake, is a must for any romantic getaway.

Great service. Lovely decor, easy to find location. Great menu with local fare. Tables outside got a bit wet in a rain shower and customers were all relocated and well cared for. Great wine selection.
We would return.

After reading many glowing reviews on tripadvisor we decided to opt for this restaurant. First impressions were good. Both the service and the starters were good. Particularly the grilled octopus. However, that’s the two stars... After that the meal and the service went rapidly down hill. The first course (eggplant parmigiana) was not cooked in the centre and he fish ravioli was not a flavour combination to be repeated. The pasta was very thick and definitely on the dente side of al dente. Having eaten world class pasta at Il Caminetto in Perledo the night before, this was even more disappointing. Both main courses (steak and veal) had no seasoning whatsoever. We didn’t stay for dessert.

We had an early dinner reservation and had the option of sitting downstairs in the larger dining room or upstairs in a small (4 table) "The Saletta" dining room. We chose upstairs and loved it. Cooler and much quieter than downstairs - quaint and romantic. I had the Ink Squid Pasta and Lobster and my wife had the 5 fish sampler. My pasta and lobster was excellent, with the portion of pasta huge and included a small half lobster all cooked to perfection. My wife enjoyed the fish variety, some better than others. No side dishes are include and my wife ordered a potato au gratin dish that was excellent as well, but a bit pricey. Dessert was a chocolate mousse bombe that was very tasty as well as an apple tart. Nice presentation for all dishes. All in all a very enjoyable evening.
