We stayed at the Beau Rivage for a week. We loved every minute of it.
It deserves more than the three stars it has.
The location beside the beautiful lake Maggiore is perfect. We had a delightful room, dual aspect with French windows and a balcony on both sides. Both windows had gorgeous lake views.
The hotel is light, spacious and has an airy feel to it. Our room was simply but tastefully decorated in pastel shades. We had air conditioning in the room which was a blessing as it was very very hot.
There are several rooms and a bar downstairs for you to relax in, all beautifully decorated, one has a card table in it.
The restaurant is divided into several seating areas and we were allocated a table with a lake view for the duration of our stay.
The food was good wholesome fare, nothing too fancy, though I did have excellent marinated swordfish. The pasta of course, was amazing. With two courses and a choice of three deserts which were very appetising, it was more than plenty
Wine by the bottle was very reasonably priced, half the cost of what we paid in lake Garda last year and a better wine too. .
Breakfast is a serve yourself continental with the usual fare. More than adequate, with a good selection on offer.
The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.
There are pretty gardens and a small but adequate swimming pool with towels supplied.
If you go up some steps from the pool there is a lovely garden laid out with sun beds and a spotlessly clean shower toilet and changing area, also a table tennis set in there.
Also there appeared to be sun beds on the roof of this building, with steps leading up.
It is a lovely quiet area to soak up some sun in.
This hotel is very popular with coach trips fro all over Europe and England but even though it is busy it somehow manages to stay tranquil.
We would go back without hesitation. You just feel relaxed and at home.

We spent a week at the Beau Rivage in June. The Hotel is in a brilliant position on the Lakeside and close to,the Ferry Point which makes it easy to travel around the Lake. Senior Citizens get a discount on the ferries during the week.
The Staff were very nice and helpful. The maids were very pleasant and the Hotel was spotlessly clean. We had a room at the front with a lake view balcony and a side view which faces us great views over the Lake and the Borromean Islands. Our room could have done with refurbishing but we liked it and I am sure it will eventually be refurbished to the same high standard that some of the other rooms have been modernised.
The swimming pool and gardens are very nice and well kept, a lovely place to relax on a hot day. There is a Lifeguard on duty and he was very helpful and pleasant.
The only thing that was disappointing at times was the food. We knew it would be the typical Italian evening meal were you order your meal at Breakfastand as we were on a Coach holiday we knew there the budget would be very high but we did except it be decent. There was only a choice from 2 starters, 2 mains and a set sweet which at times were poor. There were complaints and the Head Waiter came and asked everyone’s opinion after which there was a big improvement. Breakfast was a typical continental breakfast which was fine. I would have given the hotel 5 stars if the food had been ok all week.
Baveno is very pretty with a beautiful church. If you follow the road along the front of the church you come to the old village that has some lovely buildings. The station is higher up than the church and is useful for getting about. There is a very good supermarket across the road to the right of of the church.
We travelled by Air with Shearings and joined the people who had travelled by coach from England at the hotel. We had 3 excellent trips included with our holiday and others trips were available for a very reasonable price. The Shearings coach was very comfortable. The Shearings driver Pav was brilliant. He goes out of his way to make everyone’s holiday great. All the excursions we went on were very well organised and he always put a bit more into the trips than it says on the itinerary. He has done this trip to Maggiore for a number of years so he is a mine of information about the whole area and if people wanted to go for a special meal or something to helped to organise it for them. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We were very impressed with the whole package from Shearings.
Make sure you use plenty of mosquito repellent at night.
We loved The Beau Rivage and Lake Maggiore and will definitely go back there as there are still thing we would like to see.

Returned from our two week stay at Beau Rivage at the beginning of July. The view over the lake is wonderful. We had a lovely room with air conditioning on the 3rd floor facing the lake with 2 sunbed and table and chairs on the balcony. The ferry point is only two minutes away so visiting the Borrromeo Islands is extremely easy as is the Villa Taranto Botanic Gardens which are well worth a visit. Longer trips to various destinations on the lake are also possible and would recommend the Santa Caterina Monastery for a short visit. We also went on a number of excursions with the ones to Zermatt and Milan particularly good. Baveno is a quiet resort but we preferred it to Stesa and enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the prom after dinner. The food was all good and staff were excellent and contributed to a wonderful holiday.

Let me start by saying that I am giving 4 "stars" only because the next review is in need of the extra star.
Hotel is in a great location, where Baveno is right outside the hotel door. So is the promenade of the lake and the multiple eating and drinking options.

We visited in July '18 and had our daughter of 5 with us. Needles to say that the pool area came in handy. It is, by the way, very nicely situated in a relaxing atmosphere with excellent toilet facilities and a very clean and inviting environment.

We had booked a large room with two floors. Somehow I had forgotten to mention in the booking that we were 3 people in total. This was noticed at check-in, but only so they could make the extra bed ready within 5 minutes! When we then decided to move the mattres of that bed to the first floor of the room, the reaction was not annoyance but the housekeeper immediately found an extra blanket so we could still use the bed where we had removed the mattres as a sitting area. This action speaks to the service level and the friendliness of the staff.

I highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back!
