Great view of the lake

Review of La Sacca
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 29, 2019
Stayed 7 nights, fabulous breakfast, with lots of choice, looked like you could order / ask for fried eggs. Very friendly owners and staff, some good advice and information from the 2 sisters who own and run the hotel. A little bit out of town, and doesn't have the ability to walk into town, as you have to walk on the road for a while, before any footpath starts. Very clean, some nice sitting areas for relaxing and a glass of wine. Room was large with a good size balcony overlooking the lake. The room felt a bit stark!! and with no shower curtain, you had to sit in the bath for a hand held shower.
There is a bus stop more or less right outside the hotel, and it cost 2 euro's, runs roughly ever hour, except at night and the last back to the hotel was around 7.30. We have to drive into Stresa, and parking was sometimes an issue....finding a parking spot.

We stayed at La Sacca for three nights as part of a trip around the lakes. The room was good, nice size and everything was clean and tidy. If I was to be picky I would say the bathroom was a bit dated - coloured suite, cramped and a fairly small shower.

We had an enclosed balcony with a good view of the lake, which was ideal as it kept out the plentiful mosquito's.

Breakfast was amazing - loads of choice and set in a lovely big dining room with a lake view.

My concerns with La Sacca are that we had anticipated it had a restaurant as part of the facilities. However, this was not the case. This links to the wider issue of location. The hotel is set on a main road about a mile from the centre of Stresa. I would suggest you would have to be very brave to walk it - on the initial section there are no pavements and cars are not driving slowly! This meant that we had to drive into Stresa to eat and try and find parking - which proved nearly impossible in high season.

On the basis of location and lack of restaurant I would not return to the hotel, but if this is not an issue for you then it is a nice place to stay with friendly and helpful staff.

My girlfriend and I stayed here last week for 4 nights. The room was immaculately clean and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room had a balcony with a stunning view of lake maggiore. The breakfast buffet was faultless. There was so much choice and everything was delicious. There was a selection of 7 different cheeses 4 different meats and the fresh ham in particular was so good. There was a great selection of fresh fruit especially the prunes and mixed fruit salad. A real gem of a property and we will definitely be back.

Nice hotel, with rather small rooms, but with big terrace and beautiful views. The decoration is rather wild , with Zebra details. I liked it, but my partner was less charmed by it. We had dinner at their restaurant. We were the only two, which makes it a bit uncomfortable. I thought the food was delicious but again my partner didn't agree. :)) Breakfast deserves an upgrade.

This hotel is located a bit outside Stresa so it is fairly quite but you need a car to get around. The rooms are very basic but clean. The staff is very helpful and friendly! There is a very nice view of the lake.

You need to reconnect to internet every hour or so and the speed varies from reasonable to very slow.

A good hotel for a couple of days if you plan to spend most of the day outside the hotel.

Their dinner restaurant is fantastic. Even if you do not stay at the hotel the restuarant is definitely worth a visit!!
