I saw some reviews about building works and travellers reassuring. Just a note on that as of November 2024: there are massive construction works behind the hotel. So rooms with Mountain View look out on a building site. And yes there is noise. Rooms are well insulated but with window open it would be very noisy.
Also building site on right but construction in less disruptive phase.
We were given a room on front away from building work but in Stresa, mostly lake views are on the road so there is that noise. That’s Stresa.

Having said all this: hotel is wonderful. Rooms are big, beds are huge. Service is lovely. Great breakfasts. Heated rooftop pool. There is a spa but steam room didn’t steam much!

Perfect location on the lakefront with great views of the Borromeo Islands. We stayed here for 5 nights in a room with a lake view and balcony, which was clean, comfortable, spacious and modern. We really couldn't fault it.

There's a first-class restaurant, and as a bonus, a rooftop skybar and a swimming pool on the lakefront.

The staff were wonderful - helpful and friendly.

Breakfasts were excellent , and we ate in the restaurant on one of our evenings there, which was also very good. Food is also available in the skybar and swimming pool.

The location of La Palma is great, just a short walk from the centre of the town and harbour.

If we visit Stresa again (which hopefully we will) we would certainly stay at La Palma.

It's hard to say what I loved most: the clean and comfortable rooms, the classy rooftop, the relaxing spa, the mouthwatering breakfast, the kindness of the staff or the breathtaking pool on the lake. The perfect stay in the perfect Stresa, a jewel on Maggiore lake.
