Let's be fair - to get a room at this price during the Design Fair was quite lucky. We were pleasantly surprised by the location excpecting far worse. It's quiet and a bit more than a block to the Tram no. 3 which we took regularly to the Duomo area.

On the other hand, the room seemed OK at first but turned out to be cold at night. It seems the heating is disconnected on April 15, no matter what the weather. When we complained we were given the remote control of the room airconditioner. However it did not function at heat and even cooled the room when set to 30 degrees Celcuis!!!
Also every noise from the lobby or the stairs sounded like it was inside the room. The breakfast has been reviewed and we have nothing to add. So again our expectations prevented disappointment. I must add that the staff tried to be helpful with info and getting us a taxi.

Two nights were more than enough and we escaped the moment we could.

Room Tip: Do not accept the room right offf the lobby.

I read the bad reviews but went anyway. Location is around 30 mins walk from Duomo - a nice walk, and very near the canal with lots of action at night. Hotel itself is ok, don't expect luxury, but good value for money. If you've traveled a lot before, you no doubt would have stayed in a lot worse. It's a good price for an expensive city. Average English spoken at reception. However, they do not go out of their way for service. In fact, it's quite poor, and needs attention. I shifted rooms one night (my fault for only booking day by day), but moved into a room with no bathroom, which I had no problem with. Manager pointed out there was no bathroom in the room, so OK. However, when I came back around midnight and searched for the communal bathroom, it was nowhere to be found. I had to wake the manager on duty, who just shrugged his shoulders and said: "But I told you there was no toilet." He was pissed off when he had to let me use the one in his room. Weird. You cannot charge travelers for a room without a bathroom if there are no other toilet facilities on the premises. Also, when I asked for the air con remote from the reception then came to use it, it wasn't working. Upon returning to the reception, he told me it was broken. Why not just tell me its broken in the first place and save the whole rigamarole? Free WiFi made up for the problems, however.

I think the bad reviews here represent more a lack of traveller common sense than poor hotel service. This family run a clean smart simple hotel which is great value in an expensive city. They are neither internet savvy nor good with English so beware of last minute bookings - I booked within 14 hrs of arrival and they did not have my booking on arrival - but sorted me with the last room they had quite quickly. I should have phoned them with such a late booking to ensure they definitely had a room. Use an internet site to translate your question. It's only 10mins walk from Romolo metro. They provide breakfast in your room only & you need to tell them what time you want it the next morning. They have excellent free wifi internet access - just ask for the code. Most hotels here charge for that. I then used an internet translation site on my laptop screen to communicate if I had a specific question. The rooms are clean tiled floors, excellent hot new shower, bed clean and comfortable in a quiet room. 24 hour concierge. This was all I needed for my business trip to this poorer part of Milan & was able to get loads of work done. I would stay again but phone ahead to avoid internet double bookings.

THE BADEST HOTEL WHERE IM EVER BEEN !!!

I had booking to hotel mercurio but suddenly they said to us that we have to change to another hostel (medusa) bucause they were over booked mercurio hotel (NOT TRUE) but we did not agree on this. That is why the staff just yelled to us so much, and was rude. It ended up that we had to pay more, and as "bonus" they took our payment 2 times!!! Really bad, one night was supposed to pay 25 euro per night, but it cost 70 euro.. :O

We spent one night in medusa, and the place was dirty and unforgatable,,, there was only one toilet and one shower. ! and maybe 15beds.
And the location was awful and scary, NOT good place to turists!

DON'T EVER GO HERE!, all what they want is your MONEY and make a mess of your holiday!!
