As English speakers traveling in Italy, we felt so lucky to meet the desk staff at Hotel Olina. Fluent in English, the staff helped us to obtain rooms for 5 nights and locate the local attractions we wanted. We had two different rooms during our last-minute stay: both looked out over Piazza Motto, so we were able to throw open the long windows and watch the world below in the piazza and out to the island of San Guilo. As people who work through the internet while we travel, we were so pleased to have internet access in an eating room of one of their properties. Moreover, the complimentary breakfast was nearly decadent: cheeses, meats, quiches, tarts, fresh fruit, grilled vegetables, and as much espresso/ latte as one could want! All in all, we were delighted from beginning to end with Hotel Olina and recommend it highly.

Room tip: Piazza Motto is the central area for tourists, so expect some evening entertainment outside your room.

Price and quality match, rooms are spread out over different locations. We stayed at Mansarde. Very large family room for four. Clean, good bathroom & shower. Big beds. Location is perfect in the middle of the town. One remark: two broken windows so they couldn't be closed. Breakfast is at another location, in the central square is very very nice. Vergy good service and a variety of food. Just perfect.

Room tip: Check for elevator, we were on the 3rd floor only accessible by stairs.

The "hotel" seems to have several buildings at different locations, within walking distance from the main office/reception. There is only one person at the desk so each time there is someone to check in the receptionist has to take them round to their room which may be 5 to 10 minutes walk away, so anyone else who is in reception ends up waiting for the receptionist to come back. The hotel also claims that it has got a free parking - The free parking is 10 - 15 minutes away from the the hotel's reception and you cannot drive by the hotel to drop your luggage because it is in a pedestrian zone area. So ended up paying extra for parking in a nearby garage which is around 5 minute walk from the hotel. The room was clean and basic. Breakfast was served in another building away from where our room was located, but it was varied and probably one of the best breakfasts we had in our 2 week holiday in Northern Italy. Hotel location is great and within walking distance to all attractions within the village.

Excellent location and nice area. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially (Selena). They have a car park but don't get with the car to the hotel! it's in the old area of the towns and cars are not allowed. Contact them and they will let you know where the parking is. (otherwise you will struggle finding parking and paying a lot!).

The only negative point was the wifi was very bad and couldn't reach the room.

This is a no-frills, 2-star property with basic but clean accommodation in the centre of Orta San Giulio offering a great base for exploring this wonderful little town. Don't go with too high expectations and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay, just as we did.

We stayed in July and didn't miss the air conditioning as the stone walls were sufficient in keeping our spacious room clean, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was well stocked.
Special mention must also go to the hotels excellent (quirky) restaurant and the great breakfast served at their sister hotel in the main square.
