Just good hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 2, 2024
Our next hotel on this Italy trip was the Duparc contemporary suites in Torino. It immediately surprised us with a rather large stairway down which we had to carry our luggage down (and then up) ourselves. Unfortunately, no one at reception even looked in our direction.
But our suite on the third floor was nice! It was basically a 2.5 room apartment with an entrance hall, living room, bedroom and kitchen divided into two areas for cooking and dining and a bathroom with shower. It is a modern hotel with a large lobby. It is designed for long and comfortable stay, as indicated by the price list on the wall of the hallway cupboard. Duparc will definitely appeal to young large companies.
The room was equipped with everything that should be in a modern apartment: refrigerator and minibar, dishwasher, microwave oven and oven, kettle and coffee machine, safe, TV, free wi-fi. The windows faced strictly to the east, which my wife liked very much.
But I can't say anything good about the breakfasts. They were rather boring, monotonous breakfasts, and it was obvious that the hotel saves on them, although it is 4*. If in Saturnia & International Venezia guests eat with Villeroy & Boch dishes, then in Duparc both dishes and furniture are just from Ikea.
The hotel is located at some distance from the center of Torino, which you have to get to by public transport. But nearby is Valentino Park, which we never went to due to lack of time. I specifically chose this hotel closer to Pala Alpitour. But we also had to take a bus to it. I have no questions about the cleanliness of the rooms - the rooms are cleaned daily, refilling the stock of free bottled water, tea bags and coffee in capsules. The hotel has a spa and gym. Pleasantly surprised by the prices in the restaurant for dinner. They are considerably less than at the restaurant in the center of Torino.
Two things surprised me in an unpleasant way at the Duparc. First, there were no bathrobes in the room. And when I went down to reception I found out that it costs 4 euros to get a robe, and if you want to change it, you have to pay 4 euros for each new robe. Dudes, you're doing business in a weird way! You should add that 4 euros to the daily room rate and put bathrobes in the rooms. You can change them once every three days and the guests will be happy, and you will earn money. Secondly, in the restaurant at breakfast I saw a table with open wine and Prosecco. I almost poured myself and my wife a glass. But I decided to ask. And the waitress told me that it's an extra charge. But come on! It's in public view, open and available! Why don't you put those bottles behind the bar? Just lazy, huh?
We already had three suitcases at check-out, not two like at check-in. And yes, I had to carry them all up the stairs to the street, the staff at the reception looked on with interest.
Verdict: I recommend it for young people, business travelers and people not older than 60.

Very confortable hotel near a park. Big room with all confort. Parking at disposal
Breakfast a litlle bit light.
Receptionist staff very helpful and to have a spa with jacuzzi is very convenient after a full day in the city center.
Think to reserve the spa before arrival to be sure to get access

A modern type hotel which verges on a type of hostel appearance inside [not in a bad way - just lots of bare concrete walls - but don't let this put you off as the apartment rooms and spacious with large comfy beds, and a separate lounge with large TV and sofa [bed], together with a fully equipped kitchen.

The check in was seamless and friendly and the person on the desk always had our room key in hand to present to us when we returned from our days out. Very efficient. The bathroom was clean, but we did have a bit of a problem with our shower which didn't seem to fully switch from the rain shower to the hand held attachment, with water basically spurting everywhere [but it did the job].

Breakfast was included, but don't be surprised that the milk for the cereal is kept behind the bar and not on the serving table. The food was varied and buffet style.

The hotel is a little way from the centre, and don't be tempted just to walk, as the Metro is only a few minutes walk away and the bus services are efficient and easy to use via Google Maps. We bought a 3 days Metro/Bus pass which cost less than £10.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it for your stay should you be visiting Turin any time soon. - Thank you.

Room tip: Get a Metro pass for the days you are in town - a lot easier than having to pay separately for each trip. Very cheap.

DUPARC Contemporary Suites in Turin provide everything you need for a comfortable city break.

Our room was the size of an entire apartment. With a kitchen, living room, separate bedroom and bathroom.

The bathroom is spacious and clean, with a powerful stand-alone shower plus a bath. A toilet and a bidet.

The bed is very large and comfortable. There’s a separate living area with sofa and large smart TV with Netflix. The kitchen has glasses, plates, a dishwasher and sink.

The staff are very friendly and reception is 24 hours which is useful.

Breakfast is good - selection of sweet and savoury continental options such as cold meats and cheese, croissants, pastries, cereals and jams. The espresso is particularly good.

A big bonus is the secure car park. We didn’t have to reserve a space, and the car park has a large gate so you know your car is safe. It is pricey though, at €24/night.

The location is great. Halfway between the historic centre of Turin and the Lingotto area, both good tourism sites. We used the city’s electric scooters to get around which was great as there are cycle paths so it feels safe.

All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers.

The hotel is located in a quiter part of the San Salvario district, south of the city center. It is just south of Valentino park, a beautiful city park. Public transportation is easily available with busses just outside the hotel, and trams and the subway a short walk away. The hotel will also rent you a bicycle, if available, for 9 euro a day. It is about one mile south of Porta Nuova Station and about 1.5 - 2 miles from the Egyption museum and Royal Palace. The hotel offers parking and has EV charging stations. The rooms are huge! I had a suite with a bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with cookware and dinnerware. It also had a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and washing machine. The living room has two non-sleeper couches, a dining table, and a TV. The bedroom has a large doubke bed, but no TV. WiFi is free and strong. The hotel has a spa, which I did not get to use, with services discounted for hotel guests and free access. There is also a restaurant, which I also did not use. It would definitely be a comfortable place to stay for a longer stay, like a business trip. I am not sure what arrangements they can make for families. As large as my suite was, it could really only occupy one person or a couple comfortably.

We stayed for the second time in this hotel, this time for two nights. The hotel is located around 30mins walk from the city center but still has a convenient location with the river Po and park nearby. What I like are the very large suites with a more understated service.
