“Nice hotel in original location”
Reviewed 29 September 2011

This hotel is set in an old FIAT factory and is really a cool place to stay. The building on the outside looks impressive and immense, the hall is very high and large.
Staff at the reception was very friendly and spoke perfect English. The corridors are somewhat strange, but nicely decorated with stylish and modern material. The rooms are very large, huge windows and a large bathroom as well. We had a magnificent view on the mountains which made our stay in this room a real pleasure. The insulation is very good, so you don't have any noice from other rooms or from the street. The bed was perfect and all amenities available.
The only minor point to us was the restaurant, where we didn't really find on the menu what we wanted to eat, but who cares about that in Torino ? There are so many excellent restaurants everywhere that you don't really want to eat in the hotel.
We will certainly go back there when travelling to Torino again !

staying into a Renzo Piano project is an esperienze worth living. Perfect breakfast and silent and confortabile room. No free wi-fi (5 euros for 15 min): that's the only, big, problem....

I spent one night at the hotel in August 2011.

The hotel is located within a former FIAT factory turned into a conference center, hotel and shopping mall.

Rooms are unusually large for an hotel of this category and for a European hotel in general owing probably to the original design of the building. They come with all amenities expected from a business hotel. As usual in Italy the hotel charges 14 EUR per day for the Internet connection which is expensive but consistent with what other hotels charge.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed. So I could not test it. However, as there are a lot of options in the nearby shopping center it was not an issue.

Breakfast is average. Not a lot of choice in particular for bread and pastries.

Overall the hotel is a good option for a stay in Turin. In addition, it gives the opportunity to take a closer look at the Lingotto building which is quite interesting from an architectural standpoint.

After extenuating circumstances meant our original planned stay in July was delayed to August (and I have to say thanks to the reservations team for being understanding) we have just got back from a one night stay.

For fans of architect Renzo Piano, Lingotto is a must. The hotel has loads of prints of plans and old photos of the Fiat factory that now houses a conference centre, shopping centre and offices as well as this hotel. His vision for transforming this huge factory on the industrial south side of Turin is truly awe-inspiring and a shame that not enough is really made of it.

One of the best kept secrets is to make sure you head to the rooftop art gallery ('pinacoteca' access via the 4th floor of the bookstore in the middle of the shopping centre) as this is the only means to check out the test track, the helipad and the art gallery architecture itself. Fans of seminal British film 'The Italian Job' with Micheal Caine will instantly recognise it!

After reading the recommendations we made sure we went to Eataly for fab ice cream and took the Metro to the centre of Turin (get off at Porto Nuovo). A really fascinating city that merits to be better know for tourists as the wandering around the arcades and checking out the huge squares is a delight.

Worth noting is that museums, shops and restaurants (including Eataly) are shut Mondays.

Back to the hotel though - the room is unlike most business hotels (the main clientele seems to be conference clients outside the summer holidays and I'm sure that changes the otherwise relaxed atmosphere somewhat) in that it has huge ceilings, windows and even exterior blinds original to factory. There were some lovely design touches too with the very cool desk and nice lighting. Air conditioning was on at full belt as it was around 40 degrees outside and offered a welcome retreat.

Oh and a mention for breakfast which was copious and full of choice (patisseries, fruits, meat and cheese, cereals, cooked eggs, bacon and sausages) with branded foods, including Twinings tea and Illy coffee - very much appreciated!

We hope to go back again as the city merits longer to explore and as we were there Sunday afternoon to Monday, we didn't have time to visit any of the museums in the centre.

The hotel has been transformed from an old FIAT factory. Large ceilings and windows. Lots of daylight. rooms are very quiet as the building is set back away from via Nizza. Good service. Big breakfast buffet befitting 5-star hotel.
The city center is either 5 minutes by taxi, or there is lots of public transport - trams, or newly-opened metro.
The factory building is also home to a large shopping mall - be sure to visit it, as there are shops of any kind. next to the hotel, there is a place called Eataly - unforgettable experience of dining and food shopping. A must-see for all.
Ample parking for those travelling by car.

This was a great all-round hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and polite and went out of their way to be helpful. The room was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of parking which was nice. My only criticism was being charged €8 for one day's wireless internet which shouldn't be the case in any hotel in this day and age.

I use this hotel from time to time for business, also in prior years, when it was still operated by Le Meridien. It's located in the old Fiat factory, but it's quite some distance from the city center. Conveniently located near the conference center though. Big shopping center in the same building.

Hotel reception area is OK, staff is usually friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style and is normal for this type of hotel, with the usual choice. No pool available. All in all, good hotel, but nothing special.

When are the European hotel going realize that WIFI has to be included, especially in a 4-star hotel. Unacceptable to charge 15 euro !

Rooms have very high sealings and are a bit dated, as are the elevators and carpets in the corridors. Bathroom is reasonably clean. Parking is available in front of the hotel, but if you arrive late, it can be an issue to find a free spot. In that case one needs to park around the corner (drive through the building via the tunnel to the other side (if the barrier opens... which is a problem from time to time).
They also operate another hotel around the corner (Art & Tech) which is newer and nicer, but a little bit more expensive.

Eataly place is accross the street for some remarkable dining: walk from place to place and eat something here and something there. Usually quite busy though.
