A Wonderful experience!

Review of Liberty Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 8, 2023
We stayed two nights in this lovely hotel. Immediately upon greeting us, I knew our experience would be a great one. Rudolpho, the owner, greeted us with such warmth. We shared with him that we were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary and asked for dinner recommendations and he immediately tried calling Giovanni's for us. No one answered, so we walked around the area and peeked into the restaurant. There we were greeted by another lovely person, Giovanni! He gave us the nicest seat in the house for our special dinner!

The following night, Rudolpho suggested a very Piedmontese restaurant, where the menu was soley in Italian. He actually stopped in on his way home from work to check on us to see if we were doing alright. We had ordered a really nice bottle of Barabressco wine and offered him a glass. He stayed and had a glass of wine with us. He made us feel like we had a friend in Torino! He single handedly, made our stay so warm and wonderful.

Besides the lovely treatment, the room we stayed in was cozy and had character. The hotel had old beautiful furniture as did our room. The bed was so comfortable that we had a hard time getting out of it! You could go down stairs at any time and have a cappucino or a coctail as there was always someone there to serve you. And on top of that, I told Rudolpho that he was not charging enough for his rooms. What a steal for such a great deal! I would stay nowhere else than at the Liberty Hotel.

This is a beautiful classic hotel a 10 minute walk from Porta Nouva Station. Access is really easy. Location great out of the main city but walkable for all amenities.

Staff are lovely, polite and very accomodating. Room 504 top floor gorgeous with a bath and a shower:) Beds are really comfy and pillows also. Really good nights sleep.

The hotel does allow dogs....just in case you need to know that.

It is extremely clean and a wonderful find for a great stay to explore Turin from.

Room tip: Breakfast available at €7 per person per day. No evening meal option you need to explore the restaurants nearby or in the City.

The hotel appears to be undergoing renovations because when we got off the elevator, there was a big plastic sheet covering the walkway (and not doing a great job of keeping the heat out).

The room was small, but clean, and air conditioning was adequate if not great (possibly because it was fighting the hot air coming from the hallway).

Location was an easy walk from the Porta Nuova train station, though a little bit of a walk to some of the main sights and restaurants. My suggestion would be if you stay here, get a data package for your mobile devices and rent one of the many scooters/e-bikes that are available to get around more quickly, especially if you're trying to get to the other side of the train station, you basically have to go all the way to the end and go around it to get to a through street.

One other thing to be aware of if you are picky about amenities, the shower in the room is tiny. It's a perfectly acceptable room, but some travelers (especially those who haven't traveled in Europe before) will find it small.

Also, the hotel holds your passports at check-in until you check out, which some travelers may find unsettling. I used to run into this a lot traveling in Europe up until maybe 2009-2010, but it seems to me many hotels now just simply scan your passports instead.

We did not go to the spa, so I can't speak to that.

One final tip, right nearby is a pizza place called Libery Pizza and Artigianal Beer that I would recommend. I wasn't a huge fan of their draft beer (not my style of beer, but your experience may vary -- my traveling partner enjoyed the beer and she's a craft beer person), but the appetizers and pizza were good, and they had good wine as well.

We stayed at the Liberty Hotel at the beginning of April and were very pleased with it. It’s located about 10 minutes walk away from Porta Nuova station so is very convenient for getting about the city. The staff were all very helpful, pleasant, and friendly. Our room (504) was clean, large, and quiet and tidied up every day while we were out. We had breakfast in the hotel every morning and thought it was very good value as there was a wide selection of choices, including many very tasty home-made items (the apple cake was particularly tasty!), and unlimited coffee!

Room tip: On the corner of the street the hotel in on in the most amazing little supermarket! I'd love something here in Liverpool!

We stayed at this small hotel a few days ago and what was most impressive to me was how friendly, accommodating, and attentive the staff were. Rodolfo was the front desk staff who was there a lot and he is one of the nicest people I've met thus far.

Room tip: Great staff

The good:
- The very nice, courteous and helpful staff
- The spacious, comfortable and silent room
- The perfectly functional and squeaky clean bathroom with powerful water pressure, easy to regulate temperature and fully closing shower box
- The comfortable bedding and pillows
- The nice decoration

The so-so:
- high-speed wifi but no individual password and hence no internet security
- The cold eggs and completely outdated and almost impossible to use toaster at the breakfast, though the gluten free options are a plus and the espresso machine is very good

The bad:
- The lobby that is a dedicated playground for noisy restless kids and an even noisier and more restless leashless barking dog wihich is allowed by the owners to stand on the seats and jump on anyone who dare enter what it has clearly being trained to consider as its own private kingdom
