Very efficient, superior breakfast (try the pumpernickle bread & homemade berry jam). Rooms are tiny but streamlined & spotless and well thought out. Only issue is that the twin beds are about 3 inches apart and can't be moved further apart because of bedstand shelves attached to the walls. WiFi excellent - best I've had in Italy so far. Rooms are accessed by open air passageway/balcony, so lots of room to sit outside & enjoy the mountain air. Very convenient location. Close & easy to find access to Oetsi museum. Across the street from a mall, just around the corner from bratwurst stand, Gelato store & bank (downhill). Staff pleasant & accomodating. Some rooms have wall safes, but not all of them. Our room also didn't have air conditioning but we didn't really need it. The rooms all seem to face an inner courtyard, so pretty quiet at night. Not for wheelchair bound or mobility handicapped, as the lobby and elevator/lift is up the first flight of stairs. This seems to be a strange quirk with all the hotels we stayed at across Italy.

Room Tip: We had room 7 which appears to be slightly larger than the rooms on either side, but no safe. Room 6 has a safe and Room 8 & 9 have a locking cupboard. Rooms 8 & 9 are up an extra small set of steps, which could be an issue for the less mobile.

Feichter is excellent. It's conveniently located, well-appointed, clean, with friendly, helpful owners and an outstanding breakfast. The restaurant attached to the hotel is also very good.

We found it easy to walk our luggage (with wheels) from the train station. Step outside the hotel, and you're immediately in the charming old part of Bolzano. Accommodations are simple and elegant, though rooms may appear small to American travelers (but why travel in Europe if you're seeking American-style accommodation)?

The breakfast is ample and the food is of high quality--outstanding coffee and cappuccino prepared on the spot by the hotel owners, with fresh-baked local breads, strudel, etc. The stewed apples from local orchards were delicious, and a nice addition.

In several weeks of travel throughout Italy, we found the meals we had at the restaurant attached to the Feichter the best food we ate in Italy--excellent examples of traditional south Tyrolean dishes like Schnitzel and Kaspressknödel.

Room Tip: Many rooms open onto a balcony with spectacular views of the Dolomites on several sides, as well as beautiful views over the rooftops of the old city.

I stayed at this hotel in August 2013 - these were the hottest days of the year.
The staff is really friendly and tries its best to make you feel welcome. I enjoyed the stay.
Room:
The room is a different story: my room was really really small (for one person it was okayish, but two people can hardly move from A to B....only if one person lies on the bed). It was very very hot in the room and as there was no A/C the little fan that was provided had to work all day and night. The bathroom was tiny too.
Location:
The hotel is in walking distance from the main train station, up the pedestrian zone of Bolzano. All major sights are in walking distance.
And to be honest: Who needs a spacious hotel room when being in the beautiful city of Bolzano/Bozen? Enjoy the atmosphere and sit in the sun on the main market place (Waltherplatz/ Piazza Walther), have a cold drink and take a deep breath :-)
Note:
For people who have difficulties with walking and/or carrying suitcases upstairs: The reception is on the 1st floor (without a lift to take you up there). That could be a problem for older/immobile people.
Breakfast:
Lovely. Yummy. Fresh. Awesome. Yummy again!

Room Tip: Maybe you ask for the biggest room they have?

Awesome town to stay in when travelling between Germany and Italy. This hotel is very friendly, clean and excellent service with a reasonable price. would recommend. Do not forget to visit the museum here set up to ITZI the 5,000 year old mummy found in the alps near here. I was unsure wether to visit and was pleasantly surprised what is in there. Opening time is 10.00am ea day. Visit the cafes and restaurants ....great!
