I have stayed in Venice many times, but usually stay at DD724 in Dorsodoro. Unfortunately due to some confusion our room was given away so we were forced into finding somewhere else. After reading some very positive reviews about Ruzzini palace we decided to try it.
We arrived by water taxi right to the back of our hotel, where we were greeted by the concierge to help us unload our bags. Quite a nice experience, since most places you get dropped off then end up pulling your back quite a way through the streets to your hotel. The reception staff were extremely pleasant and I must say the quickest, most efficient check in that I have experienced anywhere. Highly recommend the water taxi arrival, but I must warn you it is 140 euros - so maybe keep it for a special occasion.
Our room was really lovely, looking right out onto the Campo Santa Maria Formosa where we were able to watch the world go by. Although we had such a great view of the hustle and bustle it was in no way noisy. In fact the entire hotel was amazingly quiet and not once during our stay did we hear doors slamming, cleaners in rooms or other guests tooing and frowing.
The room itself was really tastefully decorated, taking into account the history of the building, maintaining some of the original features, lovely pictures on the walls with a beautifully ornate ceiling.
The location of the hotel is brilliant - a 5 minute walk from Rialto bridge, but far enough away to be out of the real crowds.
We did not try the breakfast as we opted for coffee and brioche and a long serving establishment instead.
A lovely hotel with very attentive, helpful staff; a good location with seamless check in and out system.
Would highly recommend

This was our second visit to Venice - the last time back in Feb '05, staying at Dei Dogi in Cannaregio. Ruzzini positively exceeded our expectations. There are other hotels that have a well known international reputation but personally, for us Ruzzini has more of that "house party" ambience, quiet and discreet. Okay, it does not have its own restaurant but there are so many in the area ("Al Bacacaria"-?- is very close and superb) so this should not cause any problems. We took a water taxi from the airport direct to the hotel, believing that the expense is justified by the novelty and glamour of the experience! Amazingly we had been given a room upgrade as well. Our room 202 was unbelievable. The lounge must measure 20 foot by 30 foot, complete with original 16th century ceiling murals and windows looking over the square. The bedroom was slightly smaller (still with murals) with views over the rear canal. With a historic building like this, I would think there are limitations as to how you furnish it without damaging the structure so the only very minor quibble would be that the wardrobe is a bit small and the shower screen was maybe at the wrong end of the bath. Breakfast was first class as were the Reception staff. We would definitely return. Any tips? The cemetery island is well worth a visit, as well as the campanille at St Giorrgio Maggiore. An Aperol spritz is a fantastic tipple, and there are ticket inspectors on the vaporettos so always get a multi trip ticket.

We stayed at the Ruzzini Palace Hotel for a short city break in Venice. The location is great - very close to the Rialto. All of the staff were very friendly, the concierge was excellent and helped us make the most of our stay. Our room was lovely, contemporary but with character and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was buffet style with a good choice of fruits, pastries, cooked foods, ham and cheese. Would love to stay there again in the future

Bonjourno Chums,

The facts:

Location: Brilliant. Equidistant between St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. In a nice quiet square.

Room: We got a free upgrade to a deluxe double (or something similar). Good size room with separate luggage/dressing area. Really big bed and there was a TV and DVD player to watch (only one English channel, couldn't watch Britain's Got Talent). Bathroom was a really good size - had a problem with the shower head sliding down the pole. Reception quickly arranged a top class fix for this (using duct tape, but it was actually a really neat job that I'd actually have been proud of).

Value: Great. This was the most reasonably priced decent hotel we could find in Venice.

Breakfast: Good. Bacon, eggs, tea. Cereal if you want it. Juice. Breakfast lady was really nice.

Reception staff: Helpful. Smartly dressed.

Arrival: Transfer from Marco Polo airport to the hotel arranged via the hotel is a whopping 140 Euros. Much cheaper to take the bus boat from the airport to the Rialto bridge and get your self a map. It's a bit of a pain pulling your luggage from the bridge to the hotel, but it's only 10 minutes (you do have to carry your bags up a couple of flights of stairs on bridges though, so don't do this if you're a weakling, or have a girlfriend who overpacks).

A lovely small hotel, in a quiet square that is a little way off the main tourist trail (and is all the better for that), yet within about 10 minutes walk of St Mark's square and the Rialto bridge...when once you have got your bearings!. All the staff were welcoming, helpful and apologetic about the weather (it rained for 2 of the 3 days we were there!), and our room was very well appointed, characterful and comfortable, overlooking the small canal that run's to the rear of the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was extremely good and although the hotel does not have it's own restaurant, there are many typical Venician restaurants in the vacinity that do not charge the high prices of those in the main tourist areas.
Our only criticism concerns the pillows which were very hard and there were no softer options, so next time we will do as we normally do, and take our own with us!
Altogether though an excellent choice for a stay in Venice, and whilst expensive (but not by Venician standards) you at least feel that at the Ruzzini Palace they make every effort to make your stay a memorable one.

Room Tip: We opted for aroom overlooking the canal as we thought the square might be noisy, but it is probably the other way round as at night the square is very quiet, whereas the canal does get a bit noisy from around 5'00 o'clock onwards with delivery barges etc.

Dear Guest,
Sad for the weather that did not assist us while you stay with us, but in the meantime we are happy that you enjoyed in any case our Hotel and its staff. (We are working out for pillows options). We hope you’ll join us once...with a nicer weather! Best regards
