This Piazza is a central point for a first look at Venice, and will likely be covered during your trip to the nearby Basilica and the Doge's palace. We climbed the Tower there for great views at Sunset. Be aware of Agua Alta (high tide) in winter mornings - which by the way provide a cool setting for photographing the reflections of the various buildings in the piazza.

Great place, try yo go as early as posible and avoid the rainy season, since in November it could get a little with water.

We only had one night in Venice so time was of the essence and we had to pack lots in. After two weeks in Italy it began to rain which slowed us down a bit in Venice. We had limited time to take pics of the piazza and the duomo. Lots of restaurants and tons of tourists everywhere. Very picturesque attraction not to be missed when in Venice

Don't plan to rush through St. Mark's Square, taking a few pictures, pausing only to listen to one of several orchestras playing at any given time. Take time to appreciate each feature - like the two columns at the entrance from the Grand Canal - and understand the awe that any visitor to Venice experienced even back in the middle ages. Get one of the audible guides, or a tour group and enjoy as much as you can.
