My husband and I visited the Hotel Splendid Venice for a 3 night stay over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, booked Friday and arrived Sunday. We were shown to our room immediately upon arrival 12.45 even though the booking quoted a 2pm book in! Staff were polite friendly and efficient, room 'Splendid' clean and upmarket, with robes, slippers and an abundance of toiletries, we had a view of the canal and watched the Gondalas glide by! Breakfast was varied, fresh and substantial. We had an evening meal on the 2nd night which was no more expensive than anywhere else we ate, but food and service were excellent, can't say the same for some of the other places we ate... Beware cover charge AND service charge in some restaurants €18 euros before eating!! Avoid La Gondala... Rubbish food and atrocious service!! We were located between St Marks Square and The Rialto Bridge, perfect for a few days... As there is loads to see! All in all fabulous hotel which I would highly recommend and definately visit again if I went to Venice!! The Manager is lovely and runs a tight, well organised hotel!

Venice is the best short break city that we have experienced to date and the Splendid Venice hotel is in the perfect location to enable you to really enjoy the city. Situated approximately 5 minutes walk from both San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, just off a main thoroughfare, but despite this it is away from the crowds and extremely quiet. It has the added attraction of being by a small canal with its own landing stage for watertaxis and gondolas. A plain exterior does not prepare you for the very well presented public areas within. Our deluxe room was spacious, modern, very comfortable and well equipped with a stylish bathroom. A buffet continental breakfast (with additional choice of scrambled eggs and bacon) was enjoyed in the very light, covered courtyard restaurant. All of the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Reception & Check In good, friendly, efficient. Hotel Porters very helpful & pleasant. Hotel ambience delightful with variety of styles of décor - Lobby is Japanese or Chinese, Bar Lounge & TV Lounge Moroccan, Restaurant almost "English" (Lloyd Loom chairs in Conservatory area) & Italian. Ground floor "Ladies Room" Art Deco. Our DeLuxe Bedroom on 4th Floor with super Canal views, beautifully appointed with Deco style furnishings, compact but very good en suite, & Maids always kept it spotlessly clean. Most comfortable hotel bed we've ever had anywhere in the world - & we're very particular!!! Nice touch - choccies on bed in evening & next day's weather forecast provided! Breakfasts great. Typical continental - cereals, delicious fresh fruits, rolls, pastries, cheeses, cold meats, etc & hot available + extras if wanted. Restaurant lunches & dinners rather expensive 'tho average for Venice. Not terribly special - just ok. ALL hotel staff spoke good English & were very courteous, helpful & friendly.Guest Relations lady extremely helpful on all aspects of tourist info & booking tickets, etc. Minor problems - our room safe didn't work, the glass panel on bath too low - floor tended to get flooded when showering, (we're tall) & always long queues at Reception Desk. Would definitely recommend & return -& please may we have the same room next time? (Room 410). Had" fantastico" holiday. Grazie Mille A Tutti in Albergo Splendid!!!

The Splendid is located perfectly between St Marks and Rialto for all inner venice sightseeing or shopping. We stayed with 2 adults and 2 kids in a family room. It is not cheap (700 Euros) but then nothing is in venice. The room was really well done - classy but still all mod cons. The staff are generally quite friendly and the restaurant is good for dinner.

First of all, let me say that this was my first trip to Italy and the hotel was chosen by our travel agent. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite in honor of our anniversary. Lovely room, complimentary proseco, chocolates and cookies. So I was clearly jaded by the staff after only being there 5 minutes. The room was huge and the bathroom uncharacteristically large for a European bathroom. The bed was quite comfortable and the room was quiet. We slept soundly every night.
The location is perfect. Very close to St. Marks Square and everything else you need to see. Venice is not that large so everything is fairly close. Navigating your way around is another issue!
The front desk staff was helpful with answering our questions.
Breakfast was buffet style every morning and quite good. The restaurant staff was helpful and took care of our needs.
I would recommend this hotel.

Just got back from Venice after staying at this hotel. We wanted to stay somewhere stylish, modern and contemporary and this hotel met all our expectations, as the decor is lovely.

Most importantly, the location is amazing with close proximity to both Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. We went to Venice while I was 5 months pregnant and the location meant it was easy to rest if I got tired or if we forgot something at the hotel. There are lots of designer shops around, which is great if you love Italian fashion!

The room is clean and has a lovely balcony where you can see the gondolas and water taxis going past and observe the buzz of the city. Bathroom is nice and clean with big mirrors and excellent showers.

What you should know:
- Irons are not allowed in the rooms, so maybe iron before packing.

- You have to pay for Wi-fi in the rooms, but you can get 30 mins free in the lobby. This wasn't too much of a problem for us as we had saved all the web pages we needed before to iPhone and had taken extensive notes that we could read offline. Careful planning will save you the need for the Internet. Nice to switch off anyway.

- Breakfast (continental) is good: fruit, yogurt, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, homemade tarts, stewed apples, cereal, tea/coffee and juices. You can order additional items from the menu at a price.

- You might be able to hear tourists and the gondolas going past outside, though I quite liked the sounds of Venice and of gondoliers singing. Noise wasn't a big deal and added to the atmosphere of the trip.

We had dinner one night in the hotel at the La Maschere restaurant and food was lovely. We ate by candlelight and it was very romantic. Service was excellent with the staff very accommodating even though we ate quite late and restaurant was closing.

Front desk staff were really helpful with any queries we had about day trips to Murano, gondolas, and vaporettos. One lady even printed out the vaporetto bus map for us.

Overall, a truly wonderful hotel; luxurious and perfect for a relaxing getaway.

Having looked this hotel up on TripAdvisor before I booked I was expecting good things of this hotel and it didn't fail to impress. Our room was lovely and spacious and we had a view of the canal which was great. The staff were friendly and helpful and all spoke really good English as our Italian is rubbish.

Not the cheapest hotel in the world but Venice isn't a place to do on a budget ! Go on treat yourself you deserve it ....
