My Mom and I stayed at the hotel, and upgraded, I believe, to get a view. It, Room 102, was directly over the front door, so had a constant changing scene of gondoliers, and merchants. Not a huge room by any means, we had two single beds pushed together, but enough room to move around. It was lacking proper drawer storage, though we managed. Bathroom was renovated with a glass door shower, which made the bathroom appear less cramped. Maid service was very good, keeping us spic and span. Breakfast room offered a friendly staff, constantly restocking and clearing tables. Not sure if it was the food selections or the presentation that weren't terribly exciting, but filled us up for the morning none the less. Fresh orange juice was a bonus. Really appreciated the two coffee/cappuccino machines so we could make our own coffee, quickly, and refilled at our leisure. Front desk staff were all friendly, and helpful with tour bookings. Not the greatest Wi-Fi, and walked to an internet cafe instead. Great location! This is probably the best feature of the hotel. Less than a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's square and the vaporetto stands.

Room Tip: Room 102, has two single beds, but you have a view of the piazza in front of the hotel

We stayed at the Violino d'Oro for 3 nights the last week in September. Venice was a stretch for us because my wife is disabled, and the hotel staff truly did everything to make things as easy and enjoyable as possible. The hotel provided a wheelchair for us to use during our stay, and made all the arrangements for a water taxi to take us to the airport (including finding a landing site!). We particularly appreciated the efforts of Claudia who set it all up for us and the young man and woman who took our bags and us to the dock and got us on to the water taxi when we left. The hotel itself was very comfortable. We had the room set up for disabled access which overlooks the canal - very picturesque and you hear the gondoliers sing and play accordion. We closed the windows and so were not bothered by noise. The location is excellent - only a short distance from San Marco. We highly recommend this hotel.

We spent 5 nights at the Violino D'Oro,together with another couple, and we all had a wonderful time, and absolutely loved the hotel and all its staff, especially Romina,Claudia and David, who could not have been more helpful. We would return to Venice, just to stay there again. How lovely to arrive at the hotel late at night,to be greeted by a bottle of prosecco, waiting in our room. That was such a great welcome! And we loved having the gondola station right infront of the hotel, and watching the gondolas going by.
All in all,a perfect hotel and a perfect location. Thanks to all the staff at the hotel.

Great start to my vacation! We flew into Venice and stayed here only one night.

The staff was great - very friendly, very helpful. Carried out bags in and out for us. They recommended a restaurant for dinner that was on of the top three meals I had in all of Italy!

The room wasn't large but was very clean and well appointed.

Fabulous location.

Since our last stay at the V d'O a segment of "The Bachelor" had been filmed here. We were a bit concerned that this may have affected the atmosphere of the property but happily, not at all. Located just a couple blocks from the P. San Marco vaporetto stop and right on a small canal (with its own gondola stand) in the heart of Venice's "Rodeo Drive" this hotel, while a bit pricey, delivers high quality service, a more-than-adequate breakfast, wonderful staff, and a free boat shuttle to Murano (I think the hotel's owner is also an owner of a glass-blowing factory). There is also a very beautiful church across the square.

Our room was clean, bathroom facilities were adequate, and the tiny elevator functioned just fine. An over-the-canal balcony is a nice little location to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the tourists hop on the gondolas. Good restaurants are also close by and the hotel has its own bar.

Only real downside is the number of hucksters selling fake Gucci, etc. down in the square. They play a pathetic little game with the local police, picking up their wares any time a spotter sees a cop heading their way. In the evenings these vendors are quite annoying (you see even more of this in Rome--the cops aren't really interested in arresting anyone, that'd be too much work).

Room Tip: If you do visit the glass factory don't settle for the souvenir shop that's visible at the e...

A 12 person all adult family that haven't seen eacch other for quit a few years can be rody but the management of Violino were so kind and courteous. The rooms (all superior) were all in the main hotel with beautiful views. Squeaky clean and well maintained. There were bottles of Italian wine and biscuits on the beds awaiting us, which added to our delight. Everybody were extremely friendly. This hotel is so near all the attractions that I have no hesitation in recommending it. The trip to Murano (included were def. not worthwhile, but maybe that is just our feeling.
Everybody agreed over and over that we will return to Venice and definitely to the Violino d' Oro.

My friend and I took an Adriatic Cruise in May of 2011. We booked this hotel because we were arriving in Venice the day before our cruise and we wanted to be close to all the site seeing as we only had a short time to see so much. Although this hotel is somewhat expensive you are right at the heart of everything. The hotel is very clean and the location you cannot beat. The staff were fantastic! If you are on a budget as we were I would recommend this for one or two nights its worth it.
