“Great Value, Room, Location”

This hotel is situated on the lagoon, looking back at the mainland. The premium rooms have a balcony overlooking the walkway and water. Excellent service, very friendly. Good breakfast choices. You're out of the bustle of Venice with this hotel, yet 5 minutes from San Marco. In the morning, the traffic goes left to right as the residents empty into their stores. A primary school and market are down the street.

Excellent view from the "lagoon view room" - other tourists especially come under your window to look at this view.
Calm location not far from San Marco. Enough tourist infrastructure nearby.
It is quite easy to find the hotel for the first time.
Helpful staff.

This was our third visit to Venice in recent years, but our first stay at Ca' Formenta and we couldn't fault it in any way - even as retired hoteliers! By Venice standards, it offers superb value for money. We arrived mid morning off the night train from Paris to a very friendly welcome. Our room (107) was already available and was clean and bright with a wonderful view out over the lagoon through a large opening window. The buffet breakfast each morning was quite a revelation: fresh fruit, fruit pulp, cereals, meat (including freshly sliced ham), cheese, small tubs of pate, rolls, croissants, jams, a coffee machine dispensing various types of coffee (and freshly grinding the beans for each cup), orange and grapefruit juice (also from a machine) etc. The nice part was that the lady in charge of the buffet was constantly topping it up, so it didn't matter what time you came down for breakfast, you always had a full choice.
If you want a "posh" hotel in the heart of the action with big bedrooms and bathrooms, this is not the place for you, but if you want a professionally run, clean, friendly establishment where you can sleep peacefully, wake up to the sights and sounds of the lagoon, watch the locals standing round putting the world to rights and taking their dogs for a walk, and enjoy a great buffet breakfast, then I can't think of anywhere better in Venice. Yes, you're about a 15 minute stroll from St. Mark's, but what a place to stroll - along the edge of the lagoon! And, of course, there are the vaporetti stops just a couple of hundred metres away at Arsenale from where you can get to anywhere.
In the evening, after enjoying the wonderful sunsets, eat where you see the locals eating along Via Garibaldi and other nearby streets. You'll get well fed - and watered! - at a much fairer price than in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the lagoon

Just returned from a lovely weekend break in Venice. This hotel is so easy to find, as stated in another review just jump off the water bus from the Airport at Arsenale and it's just over 2 bridges to the right. We booked a room with a view at the front and it was just spectacular, a fantastic view of the waterway into Venice. The room was nicely decorated, clean and functional (included a minibar and small safe) as was the bathroom, both a nice size. The reception area included a small bar (never saw it being used) and the breakfast eating area, which at first seemed a little odd but it worked well. Breakfast was continental and plentiful, the staff were all very friendly. St Marks Square is a good 15 minutes walk from the hotel but it's a lovely walk along the water front, there are are plenty of cafe's and restaurants along the way. The Hotel is away from the crowds, in a lovely area with stunning waterfront views and very reasonably priced for the location. A very good base to explore Venice.

it just takes a walk from this hotel to San Marco's square and the city center, it's close to many shops, cafe's & restaurants .... it's also near the sea, this is all with very reasonable price. the room where I stayed for 2 nights was good & clean. the breakfast was fine. staff was helpful & smiling.

Room Tip: there're sea view rooms, they may be good

This was the second visit I have made to this hotel, and I would definitely recommend it... A small hotel with great staff, reasonably priced for Venice... and a fantastic location on the main lagoon waterfront. The reception, small bar and breakfast area are located on the ground floor, looking out onto the lagoon. Breakfast was a good selection. The rooms and bathrooms are of a good size, and if you can get a side canal view the better. Overall, a definite recommendation (get off at the Arsenale boat stop from the airport, hotel is 2 bridges to the left)

Room Tip: ...a side canal view if you can get it...

The location was great as you can get a feel for the life of Venetian residents in the off season, and there are useful shops such as a Spar, bakery and greengrocers further along via Garibaldi. Very small bathroom. Strange fading or stains of the carpet in the room. One member of breakfast staff was unfriendly. All other staff were friendly and helpful. Overall an OK place to stay in a good location. Trip to Murano island to see glass-making is a must do experience.
