“Great friendly hotel”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

I always stay in the Antiche Figure in Venice, it's got such a warm friendly atmosphere, excellent location and for Venice superb value, I highly recommend it to single travellers, couples and families. I go to Venice regularly and having found it I really look forward to going there. It's not like you are a another tourist or business travel, it feels like I have come to stay with family for a long weekend,

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, I don't have a particular room I stay in. They are all clean and friendl...

If you are arriving in Venice's Santa Lucia train station you cannot find a more convenient location. However there is one catch- you must be able to go about 45 steps up the bridge over the canal and then down another 45 steps to get to the side on which the hotel is located. If you have heavy luggage and / or have any mobility issues this could be a challenge.
Once you arrive at the hotel- just a two minute walk, you will be greeted by wonderful stafff who will go out of their way to make suggestions, reservations, provide travel instructions etc. They do it with a smile and warm Venetian hospitality.
The rooms are small, but lovely with tasteful decor and the bathrooms quite elegant (even including warming bars for generously sized bath towels.)
The breakfast is very nice with some of the best cappucinos anywhere. Three varieties of cereals, yogurts, sliced turkey, ham, cheese, croissants, fresh fruits and assorted sweets should hold anyone till lunch.
All in all great value in high priced Venice. The vaporetto across the bridge (yes, that one!) gets you to almost everywhere in Venice, Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Enjoy!

My wife and I have just returned from a fabulous weekend in Venice which was made extra special from our stay at Hotel Antiche Figure. The people that work there are very helpful and friendly, the superior room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast fresh and plentiful.
Whether you transfer by private water taxi (mooring right outside) or water bus or road the hotel is very easy to find situated near the main bus station on the Grande Canal. People watching while sitting outside with a glass of chilled presseco was perfect after a days walking around the sights!
When we return to Venice this will be where we stay.

Room Tip: We were very happy with our superior double.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The location was perfect, the rooms were beautiful, and the service was amazing. We stayed for 3 nights -- and would have loved to stay longer. If we are lucky enough to return to Venice some day in the future, we will absolutely stay at Hotel Antiche Figure.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the rooms overlooking the Grand Canal...it's a view you'll never forget!

We stayed at the Antiche Figure due to previous good reports and were not disappointed.
The price was reasonable for a very expensive city, the location is good, being within a short walk to both bus and train stations, and not far away from the main tourist area's. The staff were very helpful and cheery, and their recommendations for local authentic restaurants was great. The room was lovely, clean and we were lucky enough to have one of the rooms with a small balcony overlooking the canal, faultless.
Many places in the world to see, but if I was back in Venice, this would be top of my list of places to stay.

We decided to stay at the Antiche Figure based on the hotel's previous reviews on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed! The hotel is ideally located opposite the railway station and close to the bus station. Clearly this makes it easy to get to when you first arrive, but it also brings another advantage: wherever you are in the city, you just need to follow the signs for "Ferrovia", and they lead you right back to your hotel. That is a BIG plus point in Venice!

The hotel itself has clearly been renovated quite recently, and to a very high standard. Our room was a good size, with very high quality fixtures and fittings, both in the bedroom and in the bathroom. We had a room to the side of the hotel, so no view form the windows. However, I think this made it significantly quieter than a front-facing room would have been. And if you want to view the Grand Canal (who doesn't?), just sit outside the hotel sipping a Spritz, or else spend an hour on the steps of the adjacent church, watching the world float by.

The hotel staff are wonderful - every staff member we came across was very friendly and helpful. It is clear that they all enjoy working at the hotel, and I guess this stems from high calibre management.

There was a good selection of food available at breakfast, and the buffet was constantly replenished by the staff. In the evenings, the hotel bar has a good range of drinks available at reasonable prices.

The only things that could be improved were mentioned in another recent review: (1) it would be good to have WiFi in the bedrooms, not just in the lobby and breakfast rooms and (2) teamaking facilities in the bedrooms would be good. Neither of these are dealbreakers, though.

When we return to Venice, we will definitely stay at the Antiche Figure. I recommend this hotel very highly!

I didn't know this hotel was owned by the same people as the Canal Grande (which is supposed to be their four star one, a little further along the canal), and if I had I probably wouldn't have chosen it as its sister hotel fell just slightly short of expectations last year. But as it turns out, despite being quite a bit cheaper, I had a much better experience at this hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, spacious room (for Italy) with a bath, and a nice breakfast (although on the second day we weren't offered cappucino). Its best asset however is its location, immediately across the bridge from the train station, which will save you lugging bags down narrow croweded streets and over bridges to and from the station if you're arriving by train. It's also handy to Piazzale Roma for the airport bus, if you're coming or going that way.

Room Tip: We were offered a room with a canal view on arrival for 30Eur more - didn't take it so can't...
