Venice is expensive, and it's hard to find a good room for a reasonable price. Having stayed at other hotels and guesthouses in Venice, I would say Casa Sant'Andrea is a very good option for the price (I booked it through Logitravel and had no problems through that portal).

The room was huge, the toilet clean. Free wi-fi and the breakfast was ok. Check-in and out was easy. It's really easy to find the guesthouse if you are walking from Piazzale Roma or Train Station. We had only one problem: Mosquitos! I think is because they gave us a ground floor room so the humidity attracts them. I would recommend this guesthouse for any travellers on a budget and maybe mention at the reservation that you'd prefer a room in other floors. But this is not a place to stay if you are looking for something more romantic or a room with canal views.

I came with friends for a 4-day holiday and stayed on this hotel. The man who introduced himself as the manager was very rude and arrogant. He doesn't treat the guests with respect and worst of all he claimed that he's been with the hotel for 13 years?!how is that possible? He's definitely not a good asset for the hotel. The rest of the staff are nice though. Of all the places we travelled, its our first time to encounter a very disrespectful and insulting staff in the front desk. I hope the management would do something about him.

Hotel very easy to find from Bus Station, bearing in mind this is only a two star hotel, no frills but exceptionally clean. Rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels. Unfortunately whilst we were there it was like staying at St Trinians (a very very noisy group of school girls were staying in our corridor on an art tour) But I have to say the reception staff dealt with this very well and sorted the issue out, so I am very grateful to them and also to the lady that made me a coffee at 7am, a life saver AND much appreciated. All in all this is a great little hotel in a location where you can explore the whole of Venice by foot or water bus, yes its basic BUt clean, which I think is so important.

This place is in a former monastery, very close to the train station which is convenient but not super close to where all the sites are. I mean it's Venice so wherever you look there are canals and history and it's beautiful but there isn't a whole lot of action here. It's close to public transportation: bus, train, a water taxi is right outside the door, which is nice. There is a grocery store very close, too. But if you want to get dinner, do shopping, or visit the sites it's about a 30 min walk. The hotel itself is friendly, the room was clean and a goods size for Italy, the bathroom was big, free breakfast, and inexpensive. It's perfect if you don't mind taking the water taxis or walking a lot. I would stay here again.

My husband, Doug, and I arrived in Venice on October 3, 2013. We had booked through Monastery Stays prior to departing Vancouver and found very last minute space at the Casa Sant'Andrea. This former monastery was such a pleasant surprise! Located about 5 minutes from the S. Lucia train station, where we arrived from Florence. We turned to the right, navigated the Ponte di Calatrava (which is VERY awkward for luggage in all its modern glory) and found ourselves in the main bus station, just steps from our hotel. Our room was spotless. The bathroom was a generous size by any standards, and the staff was quite friendly. Some were friendlier than others. The breakfasts were typical continental fare, but quite tasty. We bought our own fruit at the market just down the street. Casa Sant'Andrea is quite a hike from San Marco square. We walked about 1/2 an hour, following the very quaint, hand-painted signs. We also got lost on countless occasions. I found it an adventure. My husband.... not so much. What a glorious city! And we really enjoyed being away from the central area. It allowed us the opportunity to explore far and wide whether we planned to or not. The only complaint, if I can make this, is the Italian policy of not allowing central heating to be turned on until the end of October. (I think that's the time) It was COLD!!! Much different than Rome. I would have a very hot shower while Doug warmed up my side of the bed and then I ran and dove in under the extra covers. The guest house is also right next to the Vaporetto stop. Being far removed from San Marco, we enjoyed a good long sight-seeing tour on one occasion. But, we far preferred walking. Anyway, that is our review of this lovely guest house. Good, simple, safe. Ciao!
