As usual, I booked Al Ponte Mocenigo because of the reviews, specially good for this hotel. After a nice stay in the beautiful city of Venice there is not much I can add to what others said about this place. Al Ponte Mocenigo deserves all the good comments.

Just to point out that the staff is absolutely amazing, everybody from receptionists to waiters. The amiability of the owners in the booking process emails previous to my visit already gave me a hint on the kind of place and nice people I was about to meet there. Also, the website is very informative, so check it our first so that you can easily find the place: Venice is a labyrinth where many people do struggle trying to find their hotels.

So, think no more: if available in the dates of your visit, choose this hotel and you will not be disappointed.

Thank you my dear Tripadvisor friends. I booked the hotel, because of the great reviews. I paid 95 EUR for a DBL superior room! The location is just perfect, romantic, i had a room with a little balcony. It was just superb! nice receptionist, very good croissants for a breakfest (yes, not too much things, but really nice atmosfere) the hotel has a nice garden, for summer this is a PLUS. very nice, calm locations, just 50m from the vaporetto stop, its visavie the famous Wagner villa (where Wagner died)
I WILL COME BACK FOR SURE!

Room Tip: I ate several times in the nearby restaurants there, if you go straight down trought the street, you...

An ideal place to stay, in a quiet location but within walking distance of everything you'd want. Nice clean rooms, good food, friendly staff and fairly priced. Couldn't fault it and fully intend to return.

I used Trip Advisor to plan our Italian vacation and I was not disappointed! We loved Al Ponte Mocenigo for its charm, authentic Venetian experience, and friendly staff! It was also nice to get away from the bustle of St. Mark's Plaza into a quieter, cozy neighborhood. They had a fantastic breakfast and we had the ability to walk from any location in Venice. We had some trouble finding it because we got in to the city with major jet lag and late at night, but it is very accessible by public transport and right next to the San Stae stop. We're already planning our next trip to Venice!

Room Tip: We booked through hotels.com and felt we got a good deal. We stayed in a double superior room and it...

In fairness, we had just arrived from a hotel in Florence that exceeded our expectations. So, we had a comparator in mind that, while similarly priced, easily outshined this property.

In the interest of balance, I'll highlight some very strong positives:

-Good value, as it is relatively inexpensive for Venice

-Good location close to the rail station and off the beaten path a bit

-Outstanding service, very courteous and kind staff

The downsides:

-Our rooms seemed to lack soundproofing of any type. I could clearly hear the people above me as well as those on either side. This may be unique to the Annex (where we stayed), but it was definitely bothersome.

-The free internet service randomly kicked me off-line every 15 minutes. Literally. I'd rather pay for something more reliable.

-We had two double superior rooms, both at the same price, but very different. One was quite small with just enough room for two single beds a chair and two bedside tables, while the other was big enough for a table with a couple chairs and a separate couch. The small room was #31, and the bigger one was across the hall (don't recall the room number).

-The breakfast, while free, is quite limited. Again, they suffer unfairly from a comparison with the free breakfasts we received at our other hotels on this trip - all of which far exceeded this one. Here, you receive a choice of two cereals, yogurt, a large bowl of mixed fruit, some breads/croissants and coffee/water/juice. A standard continental breakfast - no meats, cheeses, eggs, etc.

So, overall it is by no means a bad hotel, it just did not strike me as one that is deserving of a reader's choice award - and certainly not worthy of a 5 star review.
