“This place (and the staff) are amazing”
Reviewed 28 October 2011

We only stayed one night while preparing to embark on a cruise the following day, but I fell in love with this hotel and will be back. It is a beautiful little hotel, a converted convent, with an absolutely amazing garden. This place was beautiful, the entire hotel was well appointed, well staffed and well taken care of.

Pros:
Staff: the staff here are so helpful and so amazing!
Rooms: the rooms here are huge compared to many of the rooms in Venice. (And the rooms were very clean)

Cons:
the only con I could think of, and it may not be a con for every one, was the location. It is located on a separate island from the main part of Venice. They have a shuttle boat that runs every fifteen minutes to half an hour, but still if you intend to spend most of your time on the grand canal and/or St. Marks square this is a bit distant from that.

We had a great spacious room over looking the canal. The bed was soft and a nice large bath room. The staff was friendly and they provided a water taxi over to the sister hotel on the canal. It was great. We would stay there again.

We chose Palladio online and have just spent four very happy days there. The location on Giudicca was superb - a five minute private boat ride from St Mark's square. Great to be just a little removed from the tourist hordes. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was spacious and very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a very comprehensive buffet. We only had one lunch in the restaurant which was fine but there is such a wide choice of places to eat in Venice I would go outside the hotel. We booked through otel.com and got a great rate. All in all a great experience - we will be back!

Great location, beautiful lobby, nice garden, helpful staff….this was great

The room was disappointing : standard modern room with no charm at all, dark –few natural light, with a brown ceiling, several hours needed to heat the room, this room was a place where you don’t feel like staying, which was disappointing considering this hotel is rated five stars !!!!????

This hotel is not worth the price you pay

This is our second time in Venice and this is our second time at this Hotel.
Changed a lot of faces compared to last time but all the ladies were all very nice.
We were introduced to them by our "friend" and Manager, Simone so they could recognize us during our experience.
Room were on the second floor facing the lagoon (think it was 210 or 212). spacious, a bottle of prosecco waiting for us with a personal welcome letter.
It was also very nice to be recognized at the restaurant after such long time.
Breakfast was a little bit cahotic but the hotel was sold out.
The next day we went there very early in the morning and it was not an issue at all and there were also some improvement in terms of quality.and variety.
I spoiled my wife with some SPA treatments and they were all very kind to her and the treatments were excellent.
Seems like they will build a pool this coming winter....at that point I think it will become the best Hotel in Venice!
These guys there really know how to please a guest!
As usual, little details makes the difference (good night note, a little chocolate during the turndown, being called with your name).
Other little thing is that now their shuttle runs from 10 am to midnight so it is the best way to get to the other side... on a complimentary basis (very convenient!)
We will defenetly come back next year (If God wants).

It's hard to find such a beautiful hotel in Venice and I have seen quite some. Location is great with a boat that brings you to piazza san marco every half an hour . the trip just takes a couple of minutes. The garden and the atmosphere is amazing. Rooms large and well designed. REally a beauty. Service is very kind, a rarity in Venice. But the hotel seems mostly understaffed as they seem to have severe service problems both at dinner and at breakfast.
Breakfast... I could not believe what I saw in a 5* hotel: prosciutto cotto ( cooked ham) of the worse quality. This kind of reconstructed ham that only second class pizzerias put on top of a pizza. The salami was so bad that my son that always its it at breakfast in hotels in italy refused to eat it. The bread was missing anything fresh and was all dry and chewy and even our mexican guest asked if they did not have better (fresh ?) bread (we fortunately got it without any problems at Al Covo restaurant in Venice for lunch). Marmalades ? there where only 3 to choose from, forget the popular strawberry as they did not have it. The selection of cheese was minimalistic. And so it goes on. I wonder if this Food and Beverage manager ever went to any other 4* or 5* hotels in Italy to present such a lousy quality and choice. It sad to see how the great italian food tradition is killed in such a way and this is in such a wonderful place.
I will return to this great hotel, but I will definitely skip breakfast and perhaps any eating in this propriety until they prove food and it's quality is as important for them as it is for some of their guests.

We were booked into this hotel by Readers Offers following a 6 star cruise with Seabourn. What a culture shock! We came from an environment where anything you wanted was provided to a hotel where it appeared that they would love it if they didn't have to have guests. First the good stuff. The hotel itself is beautiful. Across the lagoon from St Marks it provided a real oasis of calm. It has a wonderful perfumed garden where you can sit and read. The hotel building itself is also calm and peaceful with a huge central room where candles and a fire are lit at night. Our room was across the garden away from the main building (it was really quiet) and was quite contemporary with wooden floors and loads of windows and a large bathroom with a separate shower. Next the bad stuff bearing in mind the star rating of this hotel. When our group arrived we sat down on rows of chairs as if we were in a meeting. We had arrived in Venice 3 hours earlier and been taken on a tour to fill in some time but were not offered a drink of any description. Having been provided with the hotel shuttle launch timetable we were more or less told to go away until 2.30 when our rooms would be ready. Some fellow travelers tried to get lunch but gave up having waited 45 mins for a waiter to appear to be told that he would do his best to serve them. There were no other guests around.! On the hotel web site it says that water and prosecco are provided for guests to help themselves. When 2 members of our group took advantage of this they were told it didn't apply to groups. Are we not a guest if we arrive with more than a certain number of other people? The hotel could not provide maps and suggested we bought them at the shop next door. Breakfast was due to start at 7.00 am but the waiters didn't begin to set the tables outside until 8.00 am on the mornings we were there and in fact discouraged guests from eating outside by closing the doors into the courtyard! 'Normal' guests had a noon check out but our group, some of which were not leaving until early evening, had to check out at 10 with no option to stay in the room. Considering that this is supposed to be one of the best hotels in Venice this is not the way that I would expect them to treat their guests. For one of the best restaurants in Venice turn left out of the hotel and eat at I Figli delle Stelle just down from the hotel but make sure to book. Fabulous food at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Rooms in the garden building are very light and airy and quiet
