It's telling when we return someplace a second time. Our last visit was about 5 years ago and not much has changed. It's still the same cozy spot halfway between St Mark's square and the Rialoto bridge and valporetto stop a nice quiet corner courtyard to relax away from all the hubbub and energy around the bend.
The rooms are exceptionally clean, with quality bedding and modern bathrooms. The shower has great water pressure all the space is efficiently planned.
The breakfast is really wonderful with comfortable places to sit and many unique offerings. There are unique, quiches and eggs many different presentations as well as pastries and fresh produces. All very professionally prepared and kept clean and well stocked.
The front desk staff is very friendly and professional. The lobby is one flight up but there is an elevator for your luggage-it's small but works very well. Send one person up to the lobby to catch it instead of trying to ride with it.
Be sure to use the map provided by the hotel to find your way to this hotel. If you ask the locals or shop owners even one block away they will likely say they have never heard of the place leading you to believe you are in the totally wrong area when actually it's just around the bend. The last road is the hardest to find but it's easy once you know it's near the Hermes Shop. If you are asking for directions, ask for this shop and you will get a better assist from other shop owners who think that you are supporting the shops. To get a water taxi to the airport, ask at the lobby the day before and do a trial run to the pick up point for clarity...very efficient, stress free and worth every euro!

I stayed in this Hotel last week with my boyfriend. It was my first visit to Venice and I had a really great time.
The location is perfect, 5 minutes to reach everthing. Rooms are so lovely, venitian style, really clean and are kept with care. Breakfast is really good, you have an excellent choice from fruits to eggs, from cereal to cake, from toasted bread to beautiful croaissant with cholate, jam, ect.. so gnammi!
All of the staff are nice, polite, good manners. They are always at your disposition and they are really knowledge of Venice and they give you great suggestions.
To conclude, I will for sure come back here and I will recommed to everyone!

We knew this hotel was hard to find given the reviews on TA and also the information that came in advance which included a map. Once we knew where it was in relation to Campo San Luca we were fine. The good: breakfast was wonderful and the room was on the small side but adequate. Mostly quiet (we were in room 204). The gentleman who greeted us at arrival was very nice and helpful but the rest of the staff seemed to be very annoyed by us. Our running joke was that we were sure they hated us. We are Americans and we did have some trouble getting our adapter to work (which caused us to blow a fuse in the hallway). After that the evening staff honestly seemed hostile to us which did not make for a pleasant stay. Leaving the room key at the desk wasn't the worst thing for us since we had to walk by the desk to leave the hotel but I could imagine it could be a real inconvenience if you were on another floor. Probably the worst part was that both my husband and I got numerous bug bites of some sort (we have to think they were bed bugs). We were afraid to say anything since the staff had been so rude. But, we were honestly happy we only had to stay there two nights. It's a shame because the hotel has potential and could be a very nice, quiet respite in an awesome city. Staff needs coaching on customer service and rooms need to be thoroughly bug bombed. Also, TV (behind the glass of the dresser) doesn't change channels easily and the door to 204 works intermittently. The desk clerk said, "I assure you it works adequately" as she stomped down the hall to demonstrate.
Whatever. We just waved the card over and over until it worked from then on.
*Remember that you have to pay 4.50 euro per person per day in cash in addition to what you have paid for the room. That was collected at checkout. We knew about that in advance so it was not a big deal.

Room Tip: 2nd floor due to requirement to leave your key at the desk before leaving the hotel

Dear Mrs Ginger,

Thanks for the time you took to leave us a review. Every comment can help us improving in our work. For example, after different feedbacks, the lates of which yours, we are going to change all the tvs and the tv channels system of the hotel: it should be operative the latest by middle December.

As far as the rest of your review is concerned, I am sorry we did not manage to comunicate properly with you and your friends. If we did, you would have understood the card key does not have to be "waved", but kept still in front of the reader in order to open the door; you would have understood that leaving 3 rooms in the dark three times, for using a flawed and dangerous extension cable of your property (refusing to use the one we borrowed you) it is not a big deal. Minor incidents happen all the time in hotels.

Unfortunately, the impression you had prevented you to speak about the issue you had at night. If you had asked to the receptionist of the morning, she would have reassured you that we do not have bed bugs, we never had, but in case, if you open the windows, mosquitos. In fact, you did not see any, but you only assumed they were bed bugs.
Me and the staff of the Al Codega are in the hotel every day to solve this little things and to make your stay the best possible: it would have been very easy to place a mosquito liquid vaporizer in your room to avoid bites the second night of your stay.

For our lack of comunication I feel I have to apologise to you: it is not always easy, as everyone has a different sensibility, but we should always try harder.

Stayed as part of a tour group visit to Venice and was very pleased with their choice. Al Codega is a great location for seeing the sites of Venice... a few minutes walk from both the Rialto Bridge and Saint Mark's/ Doge's Palace. But even with being right in the middle of everything the hotel was very quiet and we had no problem getting a good night's sleep. The rooms were comfortable and clean with plenty of room to move around. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide and changing variety of options. Overall I would say it was a great hotel and a great value in Venice.

A warm welcome upon arrival by the son who was working the front desk. Clean, safe, airconditioning, morning breakfast and well located to allow for exploring while you visit. You can tell that this family takes great pride in their property. Highly recommend staying at this property.
