The masseria is a lovely old house in the middle of olive trees 20mn away from the Brindisi airport. The restaurant, the main central building is surrounded by another building where the rooms are. As we were traveling with a baby, it was perfect to leave the baby in the room and enjoy the restaurant with the baby phone in range.

The two rooms we had were beautiful with very high ceilings. Big, quiet, clean and with AC, we spend a lot of time resting in them.

The staff was very nice. Always smiling, finding solutions, we appreciated the team very much.

The swimming pool was obviously one of the reason we spent a lot of time in the masseria. The garden was very nice and clean.

The only complains we could have is the fact that 1) we had many electricity cuts during the night and some of them generate some noise in our room and 2) the temperature of the water in the shower was changing every 10s from cold to very hot.

Try the wine produce by the masseria, we love the one with the red etiquette on it!

We stayed here for two nights before a flight out of Brindisi. It is - almost -an oasis in a flat, featureless area dotted with abandoned houses, a few miles north of Mesagne. Put Masseria Acquaro in the sat nav or you may not find it.

Our large - if a touch spartan - room was right next to the reception and we could hear conversations clearly but presumed it would be quiet at night and were told the place was full so we could not move anyway. The good points: the bed was comfy, the breakfasts and the evening meal (fixed price) were good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The not so good: on first sight, the courtyard and gardens look appealing but on closer inspection, nobody had swept up dead leaves and debris for ages. The pool also looked appealing until we realised it was milky in aspect, suggesting algae, so there was no way we were going to swim in it and towels will set you back 5 euros a piece too. Our shower-room fittings were old and worn and the lighting dim (the lighting was sorted when we complained). The stone trim outside the shower tray had broken in two and was crusted with rusty debris. The shower head would not stay fixed, sliding down the upright and the water went from scalding hot to stone cold. Our room also looked clean on first inspection but the bedside lamp base was dirty/dusty as were the sockets and I found hairs on the floor beside the bed and on the pillowcase. The noise from the room above was intrusive too - caused by a jacuzzi bath, we were told, but we could hear every footfall too. If you want to stay by the pool all day, make sure you aren't hungry as lunch is not served in the restaurant. We arrived mid-afternoon expecting a meal - as a restaurant was listed - but had to buy olive paste and the local tarelli (like round grissini) in the shop to stave off hunger. This place could be so much better with some TLC, a decent gardener and some money spent on the shower-rooms. Perhaps the suites are better but we thought we were paying enough for our room (117 euros a night) and expected more.

Dear Guest,

we thank you for your review, as it's a step to ameliorate our service, considering both positive and negative comments.

We will take seriously your note about room and maintenance and, why not, we could also consider to offer a lunch service in the future, to satisfy the expectation, as our guest needs are our priority.

We hope you could stay with us again, testing our improving end efforts to offer the best service.

Best regards

We stayed here by chance for two nights. We were dropped off by friends who were staying elsewhere. Imagine our surprise when we went to office to organise transport for excursion into BRINDISI AND WE WERE TOLD THERE IS NONE! So okay, beautiful surroundings, raining outside then we realise as a BnB they don't do lunch! Lucky we had survival rations, Fruit and nuts
So as a BnB this is a lovely place to stay, fabulous rooms, beautiful surroundings, great breakfast , pool and a country farm to table atmosphere!

we thank you for your review, an useful tool to improve our service.

We are happy you appreciated our welcoming style and, why not, we could take advantage from your comment to think about new services to develop, such as lunch service, transfers, tour and guides, and so on...
And restaurant open for dinner is still our must!

This is a beautiful masseria. We stayed for one night as it was near the airport. A warm welcome on check in,although we were initially shown to the wrong room and then when we got to the right room, the baby's cot wasn't set up. This wasn't a huge problem (and in fact it was nice to have a peek at another room!) but it shows that some attention to detail was lacking.

This place isn't really geared towards children-although everybody was very welcoming and kind to our little girl it was more suited to couples on a romantic break. In fact, it made me quite wistful for our pre children days! A quiet, cool pool area shaded by the trees, large, comfortable and individual rooms and a beautiful terrace which catches the last of the sun at the end of the day where you are fed copious amounts of delicious local food. It was very good value.

A very enjoyable stay.
