Wonderful time spent on Mt. Etna with a very knowledgeable guide. Dress warm and wear good hiking shoes. The view is spectacular.

We booked a half day with Go-Etna for a jeep tour and walk on Mt. Etna. We were met on time by a wonderfully informed guide named Salvatore. Throughout the drive to the mountain we were given facts and anecdotes, often accompanied by light humour delivered in perfect English. The Land Rover Defender jeep held six people comfortably. We began by visiting evidence of the layers of sedimentary rock and basalt. From there to some underground tunnels and then to the walk up the mountain which was not strenuous. The day was very windy but we were fortunate to have a clear sky. Throughout, Salvatore explained what we were looking at, the calderas and history of the eruptions. The tour takes you mid way up Mt. Etna but it is enough to understand and appreciate the volcano.

What a wonderful tour. Excellent value and probably the best arranged of all the tours we took. Our guides were knowledgeable very experienced and extremely considerate. The 4 of us are all in our 70’s they carefully watched out for us. I would highly recommend it.

Very informative and interesting information about the volcano and life at the foot of Mount Etna. Guide Christian speaks perfect German and does a great job. Also the children hung on his lips.
You don't even get close to the main summit of Etna, it's more about the landscape formed by Etna and side craters.
Unfortunately due to the very large group everything takes a long time. Had to wait about an hour at the beginning!

We had a great half day trip from the port of Messina with David. The 4WD was a highlight for all. David’s knowledge of the the mountain made for both an educational and enjoyable day. The pizza stop was a bonus.

Staying in Taormina visiting Etna is a must-see part of your schedule.
We searched the best options and choose the half day Mount Etna Tours - Etna 4x4 off road Excursion with Go-Etna.
The big risk, which is in the hands of Mother Nature, is the weather and whilst it looked good prior to going on the day we went it turned for the worse.
This might have had some bearing on what ensued.
Positively the Guide turned up at our Hotel on time with another couple on board plus one more to pick up.
We then went to a meeting point where we waited for what seemed like another 4 Land Rovers so we could go in convoy.
This was a time to have a comfort break but with just one toilet for each sex the queues were very long.
Plus it also seemed to take an age to get going.
From then it seemed (sadly) inevitable that we wouldn’t see Etna and that the time allotted would be strung out at every point.
The Guide we had was very good and professional and did the best he could but there were long pauses in the half day spending much time waiting for the convoy to catch-up which was very frustrating.
We weren’t aware (maybe our fault) that at one point there would be a long hike.
Their website described this “an easy walk to the impressive “Monte Fontana”.
At first we were told this would take an hour and a half (actually it was an hour in both directions).
We can’t blame Go-Etna for the weather but it didn’t fulfil our expectations.
The Land Rover we had was fit purpose in covering the terrain but extremely uncomfortable especially when sitting in the back plus it was hard to see some of the things being pointed out.
I must stress that the Guide we had was very good so he’s not to blame, it’s more to do with a Plan B when the weather isn’t good.

We booked 4x4 trip on line easily from the UK

We got confirmation and we agreed to pay on the day

A text and e mail the day before confirmed our pick up from our hotel and this was punctual and Antonio was a lovely guy

Transfer to a meeting point where we were moved into language groups in the jeeps and driven into the national park

The half day is really around 6/7 hours with transfers and top tip would be take a snack with u

We were lucky to see an activation from one of the craters - totally safe don't worry!

The walk is around 45 mins to the crater and suggest good walking shoes - you can rent these from Go Etna

A great and professional outfit and a perfect way to experience Etna up close

We booked with Go-Etna before we flew to Sicily. We were not in Catania, but were able to arrange to meet up with the group closer to our villa, which was much easier. We had an excellent half day excursion on the lower slopes of Etna with our wonderful guide, Salvo. His knowledge and passion for the volcano was infectious! He gave our geology student son inspiration before he starts his volcanology module later this month. We would definitely recommend Go Etna as an excellent company to go with to learn about the volcano and surrounding area.

We just finished this day trip of Mount Etna and can not tell you how great it was. We had a beautiful morning and this was a very easy treck. The cars drop you off at the cable car then the cable car to the buses which leave you off at the base of one of the craters. You then walk around the ridge of the crater which is optional and can take your breath away literally due to the high altitude. After the tour you have the option to take the bus down or walk back down to the cable car. We chose to walk and found it very enjoyable. The walk is hard on the knees due to the slope and there were instances of slipping so if you are older I would suggest the bus as the walk was around one hour and fifteen minuets. We then visited a small restaurant with a beautiful view of Catania below. The lunch was one of the best I have had on one of these tours. Afterwards we had the ability to visit one of the lava caves along the road. Again this was optional as you can just stay in the car if you want. This is a very easy tour and we had many older people in the group. It is well worth the money as they do everything for you. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.
