The hotel has the old world charm. Very comfortable and clean. Watching Palermo skyline while having the breakfast at the roof top terrace is a wonderful experience, given the weather is good. It is a great value.

Comfortable rooms and perfect location for exploring Palermo. Good breakfast and helpful staff. Only drawbacks are lack of parking in the area and slightly noisy especially in the afternoon. Otherwise a good choice.

Before I say a word about this hotel, it’s only right I show my cards: in three months of travel through western Europe, Palermo was, without doubt, the undisputed lowlight. Incredibly noisy, absolutely filthy, cars stacked in front of what might have been priceless monuments, Nonna after Nonna blasted off the road by oncoming traffic (they were the only people using the pedestrian crossings, so they probably deserved the horn), between piles and piles of rubbish a parade of ghetto super-studs behind the main drag, restaurants and bars hidden deep in a nest of unsigned alleyways, super-stud fight club at Stazione Centrale, horses dressed in pink hats offering a nose-level gallop through the smell of urine billowing from the every corner of this baroque nightmare… this city has guts, and it’s all dropped right there in front of you whether you want it or not. Then, there is Hotel Ambasciatori.

Lord. Of. The. Flies.

If there is a staff member over 23 I didn’t see them. Instead, we got this: nowhere to sit at breakfast. But we did get at least 3 staff members offer no assistance. We didn’t get housekeeping either: having arrived back in our room at 6pm after a day out, we found the bed unmade and the towels still on the bathroom floor. However, we were offered some attitude when we requested someone clean our room. We also received a card to access our room which frequently failed to open the front door (mercifully, when we knocked, nobody answered). We also received a replacement card which then wouldn’t trigger the electricity in our room. One of kids came down for a look, goofed around, made a phone call to a horse, and said maybe we would have electricity in a couple of hours. He left us sitting in the dark. 10 minutes by foot to the train station in one direction, and 10 minutes in the other to everything else, the location wasn’t especially good either. The one thing it does have is a rooftop terrace with memorable views of the heaving city below; grab yourself a beer or cocktail here as the sun sets. And if you do your homework before you arrive, you can find some excellent eateries as well, both modern and traditional. Despite all the above, we did some of our best eating in Palermo; it was just so hard to find. All in all, strange city, dud hotel.

Dear Lord of the flies ,
we apologizes for your scary experience in our town.
We agree with you , our town is really filthy, mismanaged and disoriented .
In our own small way we try every day to make some positive change, but currently appears as a drop in the ocean.

Concerning the Hotel we asked you in a private message to indicate us the period when you stayed with us to know who of the staff was present to try to improve and optimize our work based on the precision, attention and customer care.

We all hope that our town will get better and better so that you may return and visit this wonderful Palermo , perhaps you will change your mind!

Kindest regards
The management

I stayed in the main hotel in a double room on the main street for one night, then i booked an apartment for 3 nights. Both were pretty good. The hotel rooms are more expensive, although alot smaller, and they are alot better in terms of furnishings and having people around you.
The apartments are large but a bit drafty and sadly face a nightclub with unbearable noise til 3am on random nights....
The location is handy to the station, and walkable around Palermo's main attractions from here (except the Port, which is too far Ferry-wise). There is a much classier part of Palermo about a kilometre down the same street, but probably hotels there are 3 times the price!
Breakfast was good, Sicilian pastries, juice, yoghurt, some other stuff - it kept me going anyway.
They also minded my luggage while i went travelling for a few days.
Staff were helpful and spoke English.
I would recommend this as a good mid-range hotel option.

Traffic in Palermo is a nightmare making it difficult and time-consuming to find this hotel. It is located in an office building on a shopping street. There are stairs to the tiny old fashioned elevator, then up to the 6th floor for reception. Staff was very nice and so was our room which was beautifully decorated. We wound up in a room facing the street. The overnight traffic noise with buzzing scooters was continual making for a long sleepless night. Choose an inner room to avoid this problem.
We were told the wireless internet access while available, doesn't go through the walls because of their thickness. However, there is a desk area and a computer for guests' use.
The outdoor verandah which is used for breakfast, afternoon drinks and snacks is lovely. The views are beautiful, a panorama of the city with mountains in the distance. Be aware it requires 2 flights of stairs to reach this area, no elevator!
We found the city of Palermo to be dirty, smelly, visible dog excrement and littered with trash in big piles and so unappealing that we left after one night. This is really not a tourist city as there are few, if any, sights to visit. As for dining it seems all the hotel guests were sent to the same restaurant as we saw them there. It was a dark and scary walk to and from the hotel which clinched our decision to leave the following day, three days ahead of time.

Room Tip: Stay away from street facing rooms.

I enjoyed my 3-day stay. My room was not big but very clean and functional, with a nice view. Our windows didn't face Via Roma which was great. However, on my first night (Saturday) I could not sleep for a few hours until about 3am because of the noise emanating from another room - some Spanish girls were staying there and refusing to go to sleep. I did complained to the reception but they didn't help. The other two nights, however, were great - very very quiet. I guess I just was unlucky the first night. The hotel location is great - 5min walk to the main train station and a bit longer to the main attractions. The breakfast terrace of the hotel is truly magnificent. Good value for money - I paid in advance and got the double room for just over 50 euro a night with breakfast. bargain!! Highly recommended!

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of a week touring western Sicily. We arrived in a rather stressed state as, having hired a car at the airport, the GPS took us through the narrow back streets to get to the hotel - not advised - stick to the large roads -e.g. the Via Roma itself. Parking is available at E15 a night near the hotel, but we parked in the street where the car park is. The car was safe.
The main reception is on the 5th floor, but you are greeted at the ground floor entrance. There is a quaint old lift to use. The staff are very welcoming and very helpful, with most speaking good English. The reception staff gave us some good recommendations for dinner.
The room (310) was good, with views over roof tops towards the hills beyond, and seems to have been recently refurbished.
The breakfast room is as nice as it appears in the photos, with lovely views from the terrace, and further viewing areas higher up. Breakfast is good - just ask for a cappuccino if you want one.
Very well positioned for the main sites in Palermo.
