The Hotel Borgo Pantano was without a doubt, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. We went to Sicily for our honeymoon but didn't want to spend too much money on a hotel. We did however, want to stay somewhere really nice with a good restaurant attached. This hotel was priced very reasonably and has beautiful rooms with enough space to stay a week or two and not feel crowed. The swimming pool is beautiful and the weather was perfect. The room was clean spacious and the bed was really comfortable. In fact the room had a couch, shelving and drawers for your clothes, a desk, a private outdoor patio with table and chairs, blackout curtains etc. The staff are very friendly and they all speak english. The restaurant has a full time chef and dinner was incredible (I would go back and eat there more of the nights). The rooms all come with a free breakfast at the restaurant and it was by far the best breakfast we had in our two weeks in Italy. We plan to visit the Hotel Borgo Pantano again. This is more like a five star hotel in my opinion.

One of the best hotel I have stayed, EVER! Beautiful surrounding extremely nice pool, beautiful rooms, very well furnished, nice details, flat screen tv with incorporated DVD player, extra soft towels and fine sheets. Free wireless Internet all over the resort. Very good restaurant with a good breakfast, the only thing I can complain about are the Scrambled eggs, since they are very dry. Obviously this is a minor detail, just to make you understand how everything is perfect! Free parking, and very close to Ortigia, the historic part of Siracusa, one of the most romantic town in the world!

My husband & I with car rental, stayed here as our first hotel in Sicily for 2 nights & cannot say enough about the stay. The grounds are beautiful as is the pool.
It was off season, so the 1 floor Adobe style hotel (reminded us of our South West structures) was scantly occupied. At the desk Lucia & Alice were very accommodating .
It is located 4 miles from Siracusa which is great because it's surroundings are very quite, compared to the hustle, bustle & confusion of Siracusa.
There was a plethora of room amenities, baked treats upon check-in & they offered us a sandwich in the dining room when we arrived, which was after their normal lunch.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our 1 yr old and although there were lots of kids at the property, ours was the youngest and I think the hotel is better suited for toddlers 3+ .....and even better suited for a couple looking for a relaxing location near Ortigia.

I don't want to pan the hotel b/c it wasn't the easiest place to have a baby (though they supply cots and highchairs and the staff are very baby friendly) so just in terms of the hotel itself.....the pool area is huge, beautifully designed and with some of the nicest outdoor furniture I have seen in italy for a long while (i even took the name of the brand to order some) so I would say just go if what you want is chilling by the pool in a beautiful expansive setting with lots of green and orchards.

The hotel is a collection of old farm buildings that they have decorated with very contemporary furnishings which is a nice contrast. My issue with our room was the noise. Italian hotels aren't known for putting sound proofing at the top of their list so I have to always accept that fact but our room was one in a series in the main building and the door didn't go all the way to the floor (don't as me why there was about a 2 inch gap) so you could hear every noise in the hall which was very narrow and had hard floor so no sound absorption. Not a deal breaker but rather annoying and also means quite a bit of light comes under the door too from the hallway. Also annoying (and very loud) was the noise every time a door was opened by the keycard....sounded like a prison cell being opened. If there was better sound proofing or something maybe it wouldn't be a big deal but again annoying to listen to the cleaning staff make their rounds when you are attempting to nap so if you are a light sleeper like me you might find this frustrating.

We had a suite (with a loft sleeping area) and I think the nicest feature was the terrace off our bedroom. The bathroom was very small and more about style over function...(ie, huge rainfall shower head) but not enough water pressure to give you the intended effect and very small sink area/vanity. They charge for internet which I still find very surprising that many high end hotels in sicily don't get that it is considered a standard feature in most other hotels in the developed world and they also charge for bottled water which many other 4 star hotels offer gratis in Sicily. The aircon wasn't working when we arrived but after bringing it to their attention they sorted it within 30min so that was impressive. Overall, the staff in both reception and the restaurant were extremely warm, friendly and helpful.

We ate at the restaurant 3x. Lunch is pretty basic...salads and sandwiches. Dinner the menu changed each night and there was a good selection each night and overall the food was good but not memorable (though the gelato was extremely good). The breakfast buffet was one of the most comprehensive I have seen in Italy in a long time and the quality was very high for the cooked eggs/omelets and baked goods.

If you are a couple looking for a relaxing place to spend your days using the pool and chilling on the chaise loungers but want to be close to Ortigia to go for some great meals (Regina Lucia is a must) and a little bit of evening people watching then I think you would be very happy with the hotel....just ask for a room not in the main building as it looks like other rooms in the smaller out buildings wouldn't have the noise issue that really bothered me and again showed it was a bit too much form over function.

The Hotel Borgo Pantano was a wonderful surprise hidden within a citrus grove with an amazing pool, open space and individually tailored rooms.

The route is off track and some distance away from Syracusa Centro but this can be seen as a plus rather than a negative. The Carrefour supermarket is located nearby (car required) and offers a great selection of fresh food and wine (much better than UK counterparts).

The service again was exemplary especially towards my two boys (6 and 2), who were challenging at the best of times. Examples of great service included the staff escorting us to the hotel when we got lost on arrival and then serving a four-course meal after the restaurant had closed.

The individual rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable but lacked kettle, iron and large fridge; the latter required for my toddler’s milk.

Syracusa is the perfect place to stay to see the many cultured sites in East Sicilia including the world heritage sites, marina and Greco Roman amphitheatres.
The Hotel recommended two super restaurants (food and service amazing) – Il Giardino Degli Aranci and La Locanda Dell'Antico Pozzo, one not so super (too formal fine dining), Hotel Il Podere, which is located in the next hotel 200 meters up the road.

My friends and I decided to stay here since it got great reviews. We like staying at clean and modern places. The accomadation is very clean and modern. The only draw back is that it is very inconveniently located. You have to drive down narrow roads, like driving to the country, with no lights on the road. The staff didn't have much information on tours or other information that you would most likely ask at front desk. The breakfast is not really anything special. I love Siracusa and wish I was there now! But if I went back, I would choose to stay in Ortiga.

Dear Guest,
We thank you for sending us your review, for having appreciated our hotel, its style and its
cleaning. As specified in our website, our structure is situated in the country side and unfortunately in Sicily the roads in the country side are not as the ones in the United States.
Who choose us, desires a completely different kind of holiday compaired to the urban holiday.
Ortigia is a beautiful place, we are only 12 minutes (8 km) away from the old centre, but there are not hotels with a pool, with free reserved parking, and parks where you can relax and sun bath. Regarding breakfast, thank you also for your suggestion, we improved it a lot, as much as to receive compliments from all of our guests.
Best regards,
Giusi Orefice

We stayed in a junior suite. Great size, really airy with original exposed timber beams, and muslin draped four poster. All neutral colours, a bit of tasty antique furniture but overall clean lines and minimal. You can tell that the people who put together this project care about how it looks and have a good eye.
The service is also really great; discrete if you like it that way, but super helpful if you need it ( the staff went out of their way to help us with some car trouble!)
The grounds are gorgeous, lovely pool. With time, as the grounds mature, this place will just become more and more special.
The location is great. We stayed for 4 nights and went to Siricusa- it's only about a 15 min drive- for supper on 2 nights. Its a great counterpoint to stay in the countryside and dine in the city...
Would really recommend this place. Wish I was there now!
