Of the many great squares in Florence this was our favorite and definitely for the Oltrano area. It is a piazza full of atmosphere and life. There are lots of eateries with lovely trees in front of the Basilica di Santo Spirito and it is picturesque.
It's quaint restaurants are so perfect it's like being in a movie. Spirito on the corner was so wonderful. Come here off the beaten path.
The San Spiritu Chruch located nearby has excellent art, great people watching and relaxed atmosphere.
If you prefer a quieter and less touristic place in Florence, Piazza Santo Spirito is the one for you. Every Bi-Sunday, there is a flea market with so many goodies from clothing, antique to food.
Pretty square, flea market, bars and restaurants are full of locals, students and some tourists. I recommend for those who want to experience the local life to visit Piazzo Santo Spirito.

Nice evening hang out zone, Volume cafe was well sound bluesy ambient chilling, then there was a random semi-legit underground club somewhere nearby, dancing under an archaic vaulted arch was good.
