We really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Lungarno. We requested and received a room on the river with a balcony. It was wonderful. The balcony view was terrific both up and down the river, there were nice plants, and a great iron table/chairs. From our window, we could clearly see the Duomo - which is one of the four best reasons for staying across the Arno at the Lungarno. The second is that it is simply a lovely hotel that makes you think you're taking the grand tour of Europe. The third is that it is more calm in Altrarno. And the fourth is that our favorite restaurant in Florcen is literally across the street -- Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco. The location was terrific - we could get everywhere in no time. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were terrific. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The staff was very friendly and spoke great English and was very helpful. Simone checked us in, showed us the room, and helped with reservations etc. Federica helped us get tickets to the Uffizi on very short notice. We couldn't have been happier.

I recently had the pleasure to spend a week at this hotel. From the moment I arrived I was treated so well by the staff. They were so professional and so happy to accommodate me. The room was nicely decorated and probably one of the larger rooms I have stayed in in Italy. It had an amazing view of the river, the ponte vecchio and the city. It is just steps away from the bridge and the city yet the neighborhood is quiet and uncrowded. The restaurant in the hotel is very good but there are also good restaurants very close to the hotel. It is a short walk to the pitti palace and boboli gardens. I can't wait to come back to this hotel again.

This was a perfect accommodation in Florence for my hubby and I as this was our honeymoon trip. It was such a romantic and wonderful stay! Initially, we've booked a superior room but it was not overlooking the Arno river, so in the end we had our room upgraded to a deluxe suite which had its own balcony. Needless to say, topping up a bit more to get a wonderful river view was simply worth it! The staff were all very helpful and friendly. They spoke very good english as well. One of the staff was very patient to give us directions over the phone as we faced a bit of challenge reaching the hotel via our rented car. You can't blame the location of the hotel. Believe me, the roads in Florence are really tough to manoeuvre around but with GPS, it shouldn't be too difficult. Parking next door at Garage Lungarno. It costs us 105 Euros for 3 nights. My advice is not to drive there if you want to stay at this hotel. Other than this little gripe, the hotel is just 5 min away (walking distance) from Ponte Veccio and it is so accessible to all the shops and restaurants. Both my hubby and I love their healthy breakfast selection which are made up of lots of fruits, cereal, yogurt and also their well cooked scrambled eggs! Did I also say we heart the Ferragamo toiletries and the lovely Italian linens in our room? It's a must-stay hotel for all newly weds!

Hotel Lungarno has been around for a very long time-I first stayed there 40 years. It is perched on the Arno-right over it actually. If you have a room on the river the view is spectacular. Whatever room you have, the hotel is a few steps from the Ponte Veccio. That means an easy walk to ever you want to see in Florence.

It is owned now by the Ferarragmo family (yep the shoe guys) who upgraded the decor a few years ago. Comfortable beds and very pleasant decor. The service is just great and friendly-everyone tries to be as helpful as possible. I did not give it all five stars because the property is what it is-it needs renovation of the building systems. Climate control, plumbing, etc. That is not to say that it is uncomfortable or that staying there is like the run of the mill tourist hotels. It isn't. But is it not up to a five-star standard. Just a consequence of an older (and beautiful) building.

Room Tip: Ask for one over the river. You will pay more but what is a view of the river, the Ponte Veccio, th...

our stay at the lungarno hotel in florence was the best hotel stay we have had in our many years of travel together (53 to be exact). the staff is the competent, helpful, kind. they went out of their way for us often, including taking us to a business place, rather than just directing us. the lobby of the hotel is warm and inviting; the dining room is lovely and the breakfasts were wonderful. our rooms were beautiful and comfortable.

Room Tip: our room overlooked the arno and we liked that

We stayed 4 nights here. Everything about the stay was top level; the staff, the room, the location and the view. Room 436 has a balcony overlooking Ponte Vecchio. Room was very tastefully decorated, the bathroom was very big, and the view breathtaking. The room service was prompt and very agreeable. The front desk (concierge) was excellent. They got us the tickets for the museums and made reservations for several restaurants. I loved the location because we had to cross Ponte Vecchio everytime to go to Piazza Signoria and other sites. Overall, our favorite hotel in our Italy trip (Rome, Florence, and Venice) and our favorite city (which I'm sure was greatly influenced by the accomodations).

Room Tip: We stayed in room 436. Excellent room! Nearest to the Ponte Vecchio and I understand it is the highe...

Stayed two nights last week in icy Florence in a beautiful room overlooking the Arno river and had a fantastic experience. The hotel is typical Italian chic with nice white and blue furniture in a rarely encountered relaxing charming atmosphere. Great staff especially in the breakfast room where wonderful professional sweet ladies serve your meal made of anything you may desire: really top quality food from coffee to ham and jams, delicious and inviting. The room is slightly old but extremely comfortable, warm, quiet and with a stunning view - great free wi-fi; the only suggestion is to provide more tv channels and SKY tv, for what you pay in a chilly night someone may want to see a movie or a soccer game.... overall I must admit this was one of the best hotel I have ever stayed in my life, the only choice for Florence considering also its perfect location .

Room Tip: Arno view is a must
