“Paris Hotel - hotel worth staying in”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2012

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the end of February at Paris Hotel. We were very happy on many counts. It is walking distance (even for a couple in the upper fifties with 3 suitcases) from the railway station. It has a quaint atmosphere with the high ceiling rooms and the fresco on the ceiling of the dining room is a bonus. The hotel facilities were all in place. All staff members were efficient and courteous but we must mention Mr Fabrizzio (hope we got the name right) for his excellent manner and willingness to help. He used to be on night duty. We shall stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor is most convenient for people using the elevator.

hotel had a great location, everything at hand. Hotel staff were very friendly and knowlegedable of city and spoke good english. We stayed 3 nights in a superior room for two. Nice big room, typical old school Italian style, looked out onto street. Was a bit noisy at night but that was expected. Room had a vent in ceiling that came from bathroom of another room, smell was very unpleasant if windows are not left open. Hot showers are hard to come by as we had only lukewarm showers at 730 am. Breakfast was small mostly sweets and bread, and hot and cold drinks. Overall hotel was good, but not so much a 3 star.

We stayed at the Hotel Paris on the via de Bianchi (one of the oldest streets in Florence. Never having visited Florence this was a good place within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see and, also, places to eat. The staff was most helpful in arranging dinner or a tour. But mostly, we walked on our own to the wonderful sights in a beautiful city. Good value.

Subsequent to my 5 months stay in a rented Villa in Florence, I decided to delay my return to Paris then Los Angeles, to extend my stay in Florence (I have done this in the past) I had already upon my arrival to Florence in August, checked out the Hotel and rates, so was prepared when I decided to stay on. My stay here solidied my experience of truly "living" on Florence, as the hotel is a converted former mansion of a wealthy Florence banker (Via dei Bianchi- litterally Avenue of the Bankers) Thus it is old by American standards, (which is precisly what I like) furnished with beautiful antique furnishings and priceless Frescoe Painting on the walls and ceilings. Rooms are generous in size (some singles are smaller) with Coronet and drapes over the bed, cable t.v., Wi-Fi (for a fee, should be included these days) an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT "ROOM WITH A VIEW"! From my bed/or desk, I could see the Duomo barely a few hundred yards from my room window! I loved the grand circular staircase, the marvelously Frescoed ceiling in the Generous Breakfast room. Gave me the impression of living in the "Grand Manner" of old. Just the feeling I wanted, of being a true Florentine. I did stay through December, and yes, it is cold in the rooms during this period, however the staff was very forthcoming in bringing in additional heaters, and extra bedding if needed. No doubt this would be a benefit during the notorious Hot Summer months. Staff was exceedingly helpful in some of my "Un-usual" needs, by going "over and above" necessary. I would definitely reccommend this Hotel to anyone, and plan on returning on my first opportunity.

Room Tip: Top Floor, espescially corner rooms have more views and space/windows/views.(probably quieter, altho...

Location: a few steps away from the train station and the main sights (5 minutes’ walk from Duomo).

Rooms: the hotel is an ancient building so the rooms are all different in terms of size, layout, and design. The breakfast room and the hall have painted ceilings, which added to the feel of antiquity. My room had a very high ceiling with traces of ornamental painting. The window frames were not modern so they were not tight and the room was cold (rather uncomfortable in winter but should not be a problem the rest of the year). The room faced a rather busy street so it was a bit noisy in the evening.

Breakfast: a typical Italian breakfast – a good choice of pastry, some ham, cheese, and fruit but no hot options.

Hotel staff: very polite and helpful. All our requests were dealt with speedily.

All in all, a nice hotel but I would recommend it for a stay in the warm seasons.

This was our second time staying at the Paris Hotel. We enjoyed our visit the first time around and couldn't wait to partake in the excellent hospitality once again.

Our room was beatiful with a quaint little nook by the window and authentic frescos!

Unfortunately, the week we visited, all of Europe was going through a cold spell. Our rooms were a bit on the cold side by they promptly brought in a room heater when we asked. They also offered to move us to another room which we declined.

Breakfast (included with your room stay) was decent. Fresh juices, capaccinos and espressos made to order, yoghurt, an assortment of breads, plus cheese and ham.

The staff without exception were all very courteous and friendly at all times. Truly made us feel at home.

The location? Perfect! Nestled on a side street just minutes from the Duomo or San Lorenzo.

I recommend the Paris hotel to all of my friends and family when they are in Florence!
