“Excellent hotel with top staff, spacious rooms and very convenient location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

The Plaza Lucchesi is very well located in Florence. It is on the river allowing most rooms to have great views and less than 10 minutes walk from all major attractions. We got upgraded to a superior room which was a very nice surprise. The room was large, nicely decorated, clean, very comfortable and had a nice balcony with a superb view of the Arno river and Florence. The staff was wonderfully nice, spoke excellent English and were very knowledgeable. The concierge recommended very good restaurants and gave good directions. The hotel is easily accessible by car outside the restricted driving zone and has a secure underground garage for a reasonable price. It also offers free wifi which was fast enough. The breakfast was good and generous.
Another important point about this hotel is that it is family and child friendly. We were traveling with an 18 month old and the staff were very helpful in accommodating our special requests.
The only thing that I wish was better is the restaurant for dinner. May be this is because we were there in February in low season but it seemed always empty with an uninteresting menu. But this is hardly a big problem because within a couple of minutes walk you have a vast choice of excellent restaurants and authentic Tuscan cuisine. I highly recommend this hotel and will certainly stay there again if I go back to Florence.

We have booked Plaza Lucchesi last minute for 1 night and prolonged our stay up to 3 nights. With that terrible cold weather we felt very good in our cozy and warm room with Santa Croce view.
The hotel has a small but very cute garage and its location out of ZTLzone makes the trip stressless.
The service is top notch - nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
We found the breakfast quite generous though it would be nice to have more choice of pastries and bread.
I would like to specially mention sig.Michele Paonessa - the brilliant concierge of Plaza Lucchesi who gave us many nice tips as for the dining and is a great person to talk to.
I would return with pleasure.

We live literally up the street from the Lucchesi Hotel, but because of work being done in our apartment have now had the pleasure to be guests. What a treat! The hotel is in excellent condition, Murano chandeliers in the rooms, gorgeous art work and original desk when you check in. We spent time walking about and looking at the restored work from the turn of the century. It has been a hotel for over 150 years. The public spaces have large groupings of seatings where you can relax and read or just chat with friends in a sunny atmosphere. The breakfast room serves elegant and complete buffet and it was during this Christmas Holiday week completely filled! We were asked if we wanted an upgrade to a room facing the River, but because we live on the River opted for the back which faces the hills of Fiesole, the Santa Croce and bells, the Duomo, Synogogue and is just incredible to see this ancient vista. Okay we are partial to the city of course, but seeing this for us is never old, so if you are in the rooms in the back, do not stress, it is unbelievable to see and you can always walk up or down the River. Plus it is quiet. Often we pass the hotel and see small tour buses from elite small groups that house people there. You need not worry about that at all, they are well-travelled and not mass tourists with hundreds of cases, etc. All in all, it was a place that we would stay again should the need arise and in fact we do use the hotel for guests visiting us. Can highly recommend the Lucchesi. RTD

Room Tip: Third or fourth floor

Room was a bit small, but was clean. Some rooms had views of the duomo, others the river, and others (like ours) views of the alley or no views. Lobby was very nice. Hotel had a classy feel and great location- a short (10-15 minute) walking distance to most things (duomo, ponte vecchio, uffizi, academia, plaza de michelangelo, right on the arno river. Breakfast was very good. Hotel staff was professional and aimed to please (helped change reservations, etc.)

I would stay here again, even though the room was kind of expensive. We enjoyed our stay.

The location could not have been better! Our room overlooked The Arno river. So close to everything. The staff was friendly, helpful and kind. Nicola, who worked in the restaurant was the absolute best! What a memory! We couldn't have made a better choice!!!

Room Tip: Room 325, a great double room!

Hotel was well situated, and the room was spacious. Unfortunately the air-conditioning was rather temperamental the day I was there, and I had a fitful night of sleep as opening the windows resulted in a combination of noise and mosquitoes. The hotel is rather utilitarian, with stark bathrooms that are very functional. Good business hotel, if you are not spending too much time. Breakfast selection was extensive, and the concierge was very helpful in advising some wonderful restaurants.
