Stayed at the Hotel Jane for 3 nights in March and was extremely happy with the time spent there. The hotel staff were all incredibly polite and helpful, they gave us a free map and directions on arrival. The room was compact and clean, it was cleaned daily and toilet rolls, towels and soaps were freshly replenished every day. I was pleasantly surprised to find a double bed instead of two singles pushed together. The room had an air con unit, hairdryer (don't expect a salon finish), mini fridge and an electronic safe which was helpful for storing valuables.

The hotel breakfast was light and tasty, with fresh fruit, pastries, toast, yoghurts, cereals and granola, boiled eggs, cold cuts and cheeses as well as fresh fruit juice, still and sparkling water and a selection of teas and coffees. One thing that some travellers might find quite strange at first is that you have to leave your room key at the hotel (there's a 24 hour reception) when you leave for the day. This is a great idea though as it means there's no possibility of losing your key.

The hotel is well situated for walking into the centre, we walked along the Arno every day for around 15 minutes before we reached the centre. If you want to to visit the main attractions like the Duomo and the Uffizi I recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid queues. Another tip I would give to English speaking travellers is to make an effort with your Italian, even if it's just reading off a menu in Italian rather than English, it will be appreciated by locals.

The location is perfect; only 10 min walk to Centro Storico, close to bus stops in case you want to move carrying a suitcase, lively street with restaurants and bars nearby.

The rich morning buffet and the friendly, smiling lady at the reception are also a plus.

On the not-so-bright side: the radiator was broken (it was obviously hanging from the wall) and the shower cabin was broken. I am really sorry that the service lady had to deal with tones of water every morning, but this is really poor hotel management.
When you visit Florence you must have in mind the old buildings lack soundproofing. By that I mean we could hear other guests snore.
One more thing that bothered me was the bed cover which had stains on. It probably serves as a cover and duvet many guests without being cleaned. To be honest, when I saw it I thought it would be best to cover myself with the blanket, but this was not a good idea either; when I unwrapped it, I noticed there are already people's hairs on it.
Also, the pillow was a surprise; there is not just one fluffy pillow in one pillowcase. Instead, there are two thin and hard pillows.
I am sorry to give you this review, but I hope that, at least, I will help improve your hotel's hygiene.

The elevator wouldn't fit more than 3 people at a time. we had to wait in the lobby till it comes down again . the tiniest room I have ever stayed. I cant even go inside the bathroom to take a shower. my friend skipped her shower because it was too tiny to enter. cant sit on the toilet sit because you will get it by the wall fitting and tap nearby. cant even move around the room. good early breakfast as we wanted. quiet location to walk (15 min walk) to the Duomo. wouldnt go back again though, for the room and bathroom size.
