Great location, close to most sites. Make sure to get the upgrade to the view of il Duomo. It is totally worth it and not that much more extra.

I am glad to read how you enjoyed the Superior room with top-floor superb view of the Duomo. With a little extra amount you can grant yourself the best view for a very romantic sejour. Thank you!

The Hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location. We were able to walk everywhere. The breakfast room and veranda were lovely. The staff was very helpful. We would certainly stay there again.

Our hotel is located in the centre of Florence, along the old "via San Gallo", just a 10 minutes walk from the Duomo and only 2 minutes from the Michelangelo's David. Breakfast is served in a room with frescos and, in summertime, outside in a terrace. Thansk for your appreciation!

Excellent location for a good value. it was a good sized room (for Florence). We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night for a total of £108. They had a good Italian breakfast from 7:30-9:30 on Saturday and Sunday morning. The location is excellent and a block away from a main bus station (Piazza di San Marco). It's also very close to the Duomo, Accademia, Ponte Vecchio, and basically the entire centre of Florence. You could easily walk from the SMN (main train station) to the hotel in 15 minutes. The hotel has a great lounge downstairs with 2 Apple computer stations and a flat screen television with leather couches. The lady at the front desk assisted with printing off the train schedule for our trip back to Pisa. The staff speak and can hold conversations in English. We were able to check out 30 minutes later on Sunday morning without incident.

Tip: Make sure you buy bus tickets (1 euro) and validate your ticket immediately once you board the bus. There's a machine inside each bus - if you don't validate your ticket, you could be subject to a 50 euro fine (yes, it happened to us). They seem to prey on Americans - we never have to validate tickets for any transportation. This does for train tickets as well. It doesn't matter that you have a ticket (it needs to be validated).

Room Tip: 3 euro/night fee per person (hotel tax) is payable upon check out.

Dear Guest, I am sorry for your "experience" on the Florence bus. You must validate your tickets because validating you impress the date and the starting time since it is valid (they last 70 minutes) if you don't validate it you would virtually be able to use it again and again. Thanks for leaving your appreciation of the hotel, its staff, the location and the facilities.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Florence! What an unbelievable price for an amazing hotel! Very centrally located in Florence- a short walk from the duomo, ponte vecchio, etc.

The rooms are very big- we got one on the first floor in the courtyard. Extremely modern, clean, and bright! Two separate closets on opposite ends of the room (perfect for me and my boyfriend- we both packed way too much!) big bathroom, nice shower, and good size flat screen tv. Also, great free wifi! Perfect connection everywhere in the hotel. They also have a nice lobby with lounge and computers in case you didn't bring a laptop!

Other great things? They serve a great breakfast buffet (free!) with lovely choices for coffee, juices, pastries, cereals, rolls, meats, cheeses, spreads, yogurts, etc. also cheap laundry service for my boyfriend's shirts. There is also a little minimart across the street with liquor, wine, champagne (for the AM:) ) and waters/sodas. Cheap and they deliver until 12AM! We took advantage of their buy 2 get one bottle free deal:)!

My only suggestions to Orto de Medici? Room service availability! One night in Florence i was extremely sick and we had to cancel our dinner plans. My boyfriend was going to order room service for us but there wasnt any available. He asked the front desk and they were helpful in pointing him to a great nearby pizza place (great pizza- cheap!) also, we had to give our key each time we left to the front desk and they didn't ask us for ID when we walked in and said "room 74"... Kinda scary since any odd person on the street could walk into your room. We had expensive laptops, iPads, etc. so it worried us a bit.

Overall, loved this hotel and will definitely stay here next time we are in Florence! We will also suggest to boyfriend's parents who are planning a trip to Italy next year.

Dear Guest,
Thanks for your appreciations. I am glad you enjoyed the location of the hotel, the size and decoration of the room, the staff assistance and the free breakfast. Don't worry, Florence is a very safe city and we just give the keys to our clients, never to "odd" people. We have a security camera system, so we can always recognize our guests.
Thank you

It is always a pleasure to come to this small, elegant and traditional hotel located in walking distance as well to San Lorenzo as to Fortezza da Basso. What I appreciate most is that the basic stuff doesn't change and is always very well tuned. I stay there frenquently since around 8 years twice a year. No need to say that rooms (including the bathrooms!) breath a restful and animating athmosphere. Starting a day in this beautiful breakfast room or outside on the terrace with bird's sing and the soft ribble of a romantic fountain while enjoying the typical Tuskan bread, mortadella & cheese is really a pleasure.

We receive many reviews and we are happy to be able to satisfy most of our clients. However, reading the compliments and words of a guest who has been coming back to stay with us for 8 years is priceless! Thank you for your kind words. I'm proud that the staff's professionalism has been acknowledged, which, thanks to team work we are improving everyday. In 10 years we have managed to establish a strong groundwork that would help us do our best. Slowly we are succeeding. Thank you!
