“A touch of Heaven! Lovely residenza.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

We have stayed here twice and wish we were staying in Europe longer so we could return. Neri and Giovonni are wonderful hosts. It is like staying with family, with tips and pointers about their favorite places to see and dine in. They meet every need and whim. I love the gelato you told us about, the outdoor market away from touristy places, Aquacotta as a favorite of yours, and thank you for letting us sample your own olive oil! The rooms are wonderful with antiquities, the ambiance is like a warm embrace, and the conversation is like chatting with old friends you haven't seen in a long time. When we think of Florence, we think of Neri, Giovonni, Il Villino, and the place you let us call home for a while. I cannot wait until we can return! The breakfasts are wonderful (thanks for the great cappacinnos), the beds are comfortable, there is air conditioning, books to read in the inner courtyard, great wine to sample, and plenty of help if you cannot figure out where to go or how to get there! Thank you for making reservations at restaurants and museums for us. We will be back!

My husband and I stayed at Il Villino for our first three nights in Italy and we loved it! The owner Nino and his son Giovanni are charming, helpful, and genuine. The place is clean and brimming with character. We requested a room with a view of the Duomo and WOW it was great! What a treat to see the dome while laying in bed! The best thing about this hotel is that it is so peaceful and quiet. Even in the midst of a bustling city, it is a quiet retreat. I've never slept so well in a city! It is a bit of a walk from the major sites but it is worth it to stay in a more secluded and peaceful area. And don't worry, it's not too far! The breakfast was simple and thoughtful, and the guys make great espresso!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Dome- it's worth the extra euros!

I knew this would be a wonderful place to stay well before we arrived. Neri was very helpful through the booking process and provided a lot of insight and assistance in planning our stay in Florence...even making reservations at some of the museums for us! The villa is a quaint, quiet and beautiful respite right in the heart of the city, just a couple blocks from the Duomo. Very clean and spacious (compared to other places we stayed while in Italy). The breakfast in the courtyard was bountiful and Giovanni even made cappuccino for us one morning!

This B&B could not have been better - the manager (Sergio) and his son bent over backwards to make our stay perfect. Good food, good restaurant recommendations..and polite help with many little things.

Our stay at Residenza Il Villino was wonderful. We felt like it was literally our 'home away from home.' The location is perfect - off the beaten path, away from the heavy tourist area, but walkable to everything and still close to the Duomo. The room was spotless and comfortable. Neri and Giovanni were perfect hosts and were so helpful directing us to different sites and restaurants, arranging our transportation to the airiport, and in offering suggestions for side trips outside of Florence. Having breakfast on-site is very convenient and our families met up each morning in the breakfast room to plan the day. We also took advantage of the lovely patio in the evening to sit and have a bottle of wine, and/or just relax. If you need Wifi it is available, but spotty. We would certainly return and it is a great value.

Not sure why this place is quite a bit cheaper than so many others, but it pays off as it's popular with Americans and Brits.
The staff here are so helpful, from looking after your car and helping with baggage to serving breakfast and entertaining the kids.
Breakfast in the courtyard is fabulous.
Rooms are plain but clean. We had great little balcony overlooking the courtyard - great for sampling some local wines.
The location is amazing and really close to some great little wine shops, bars and restaurants, plus the sights.
Get a map with the one-way streets marked - without it we'd have been lost driving here. (Parking is a nightmare so they will put the car in a garage for you.)

Four 55+ adults stayed five nights at Il Villino in October 2013. The rooms were fine. Beds were two singles butted together, so they weren't as nice as a true queen bed. Breakfast was satisfactory. Rooms on the ground floor become noisy around 7:00 am as breakfast is laid out. Nice little courtyard for morning coffee or afternoon relaxation. Staff was excellent! Neri and Giovanni were friendly and helpful, with good suggestions. Il Villino was a good place to stay for the cost-conscious consumer.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are quieter than rooms on the ground floor.
