This hotel is owned and run by a family. These guys were SUPERB in their service and attention to each client. It is as if each person is a VIP here, they remember everyone's names. The hotel is very centrally located and we loved popping out and being right in the mix of things. They also were very helpful in setting up tours and restaurant reservations. The nightly happy hour is also a really nice touch and a fun way to meet other guests.

I booked this hotel based on all the wonderful and positive reviews on tripadvisor and they were right. A lovely family run hotel with considerate and genuine staff. Our room was spacious and clean. And the location very convenient to all the main attractions on a side street that was quieter then the main roads.

If you are going to Florence this is the only place to stay.

The hotel is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk from the Piazza Duomo, and about one or two blocks up from the river. Everything is in walking distance.

The first thing that struck us was our reception from grandson Tommaso (it's a family business) at reception. He was genuinely very warm and quick to offer help and advice. We were on honeymoon, and when I told them that they left us a special welcome and gift in our room.

The hotel itself is a superbly decorated, and you feel very much in the center of Florence from as soon as you scale the stairs.

They also have a happy hour where you can have free bruschetta and prosecco or chianti. You'll get a chance to chat to your fellow guests, or just enjoy some free and delicious food and drink.

I would definitely say that if you're unsure of what to do or where to go, just ask one of the family for advice and they'll draw on maps, explain highlights and book attractions or tables for you.

We adored our time in Venice, and that was in no small part thanks to the hotel and it's family of staff.

Room Tip: If you can, try to get a room at the back of the hotel where it's a little quieter. We had a room with a little outside terrace which was great for enjoying a little glass of wine before heading out.

The moment we walked out of the elevator into the lobby we were greeted by our first names. From that moment we felt comfortable here. We were walked to our room and showed all of the room amenities, how to work the AC (keep the shutters closed), how to use the in room lap top, the WiFi, etc. The mini bar was well stocked and not as expensive as most chain hotels. The bed was really low to the ground, which I didn’t expect, but it was very comfortable. We really loved the white noise machine they provide in each room. We use one at home, but it’s too bulky to pack so we never have it with us, but wish we did. Imagine our joy when we found the one in the room! I thought this might be a sign that the windows and doors were very thin, but that wasn’t the case at all. Our room faced the street and was the first room next to the lobby. But we were never disturbed by noise from outside our room, ever. That in itself is a reason to stay at this hotel! We slept great. We had a superior double room which is extremely spacious. Spacious rooms are hard to come by in Italy, so this room was a warm welcome. The room wasn’t decorated very luxuriously, but it was comfortable. The bathroom shower did have some mildew in the grout, which I would like to see gone. Other than that, the room was great. We did have an issue with the shower draining slowly, but the same evening a maintenance man was in our room to fix it (after having to ask about it twice). The happy hour is a nice feature. We enjoyed meeting fellow travelers and appreciated the Prosecco and wine offered. I agree with a previous poster that the music was up way too loud for a happy hour setting. The hotel is in a great location, conveniently located in the heart of the city centre. I love that the entrance to the hotel lobby (by elevator) opens up right next to the reception desk, so you are warmly greeted whenever you are coming or going. Overall, I didn’t think the hotel lived up to all the reviewer hype, but it was a pleasant, family run place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a Superior room for extra space

We were at the Davanzati Hotel for 4 nights. The front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful. They had made all the needed reservations for our museum visits and dinner before we arrived. The room was small and funky, but it is a very old building. The rooms were quite comfortable and quiet. And, the hotel was very well located so we could walk back to it at any time for a quick break, walk out the door and eat at a good restaurant, or get a glass of wine.
