Me and my 2 friends were visiting Florence for 3 nights on a girly break. We arrived at Hotel Bavaria after walking with our cases from the train station. 10 minutes ish walk which may not appeal to some but we managed. I imagin it would be very simple and cheap to get a taxi if you didnt fancy the walk.

Yes there is several flights of stairs to go up with ur bags when u get there but its hardly an inconvenience. The owner offered a warm welcome, sat us straight down and pointed out on the map the best sites to see while we were there and was very accommodating when we asked to have breakfast slightly earlier the next day as we had a trip planned.

The room we stayed in was a triple, offering a double bed and a single bed with a shower cubicle and sink. The room was very big with high ceilings and paintings on the wall, very clean and really good for the price. There wasnt a toilet in the room but there was a clean shared toilet at the end of the corridor. The only downside which I will mention is although there are 2 fans in the room there is no airconditioning so was very hot at night so our sleep quality was affected.

The breakfast was basic but started us off well for a days sightseeing. The hotel is perfectly placed to reach all the sights in florence by foot. Id recommend walking up the steep hill to Piazzale Michelangelo, definately worth the hard work as the view across florence is one not to be missed!! (especially at sunset). We also went on The Best of Tuscany Tour (Reviews on this are on this site) which was fantastic and ideal for seeing a chunk of Tuscany in a short space of time.

Overall reasonable priced, clean comfortable accommodation.

Just returned from a three week vacation in Europe visiting six different cities. This hotel was by far the best value we found. You really can't beat the location - right between the Duomo and Piazza delle Signoria. The place was very clean and quaint. It is certainly not a luxury hotel, but for the price and location it can't be beat!

Gorgeous little B&B in the middle of Florence, just a 10min walk from the central station or a 5min taxi costing apx 8euros. The hosts were brilliant, showing us maps of Florence and marking all the main sights and markets, even helped carry our luggage to our room and made sure we knew how to use the keys etc. We had a double room with our own shower, but shared toilet - very clean. The hotel is on the second floor of a neat old building, which has no elevator, so you do need to lug your bags up a few flights of stairs. There was a little supermarket just down the road, which sold amazing sandwiches freshly made for only 2.50euros. We became regulars there! Breakfast was typically Italian, continental style with cake and dry toast etc. Our room was a tad noisy during the night due to a leaky sink, but not too bad. Overall it was a really pleasant stay and we would definitely go back. We paid apx 55euros a night for a double room with shared bathroom, but upgraded to have our own shower for an extra 20euros total for the 3 nights (worth it in my mind, as it was clean and you knew only you were using it). We would recommend Bavaria to couples and families on a short stay in Florence.

Great location, great price
Room tidy, and fairly clean. Small, but you don't need more!
Didn't have any problems with shared restroom, though tiny.
Wifi only in lobby, not in rooms.
Cabbed from the train station (maybe $10), but it's an easy 15-20 min walk.
There are stairs, so be ready for it!

I love my hotel here in Florence, I got it at a steal. I'm definitely in the cheap and cheerful room, but it's got a double bed and has a little sink and has the most glorious exposed beam ceiling. The building is a sixteenth century palace (how cool is that?) and the hotel is very central. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the train station, a 5 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio and 1 minute walk to the Duomo. The wifi works best out in the common area, not in the rooms but that's OK. Only real negative is no elevator, but hey, it's a sixteenth century palace, what do you expect?

Explored Florence from this hotel for 3 days. We had a very big room including our own bathroom. Unfortunately the bathroom only includes a shower you have to leave the room for a shared toilet.
