“Excellent value & location”
Reviewed 6 August 2011

We chose Casa Di Barbano based on TA reviews and were not disappointed. It's in an excellent location, a 5 minute walk from the train station, 10 minutes into the city centre, 15 minutes to the river.

The owner was extremely helpful and provided a map of the area + tips on where to visit. The room was great - large, old with loads of character and everything we needed. The shower wasn't great but everything in the bathroom was clean and adequate.

Breakfast was served in our room each morning and included a variety of savoury & sweet snacks and spreads + the best warm croissants I've ever had! Price was also very good for the area (€80 per night).

Overall an excellent choice and good value. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is the lack of facilities. This is obvious as it only a small establishment and cannot provide the same kind of facilities as larger hotels, so if you don't mind that it is a great choice.

We stayed 4 nights. The place is charming. The owner of this 3-room B&B is very helpful and speaks perfect English. The room is clean, the bed is very comfortable, but things are kind of dark and the walls could use a little paint. The breakfast is excellent and huge. Look at other reviews about how to find the street entrance. For this price, I highly recommend it.

I stayed in Casa di Barbano during 6 nights. We looked for the budget accomodation and found it in this B&B. The room was wide and nice, full of old italian things. The hostess (American) was rather nice and served the buffet breakfast in the room herself - very nice! The accomodation is not far from the city center and railway/autobus staitions - about 10 min by walk, a little bit longer with a heavy suitcase. Good value for the money.

Great hotel that was reasonable and within a short distance of the town centre. The owners were very helpful and friendly and the room was clean and spacious with a lovely classic decor.
Breakfast is delivered to the room and was continental with juice, rolls etc. and warm pastries that were fantastic.
Overall great value for money and a lovely place to stay in this beautiful city.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in June 2010 and we both loved it. The location is very convenient for the train station (just a pity there was a train strike the day we were leaving!), and San Lorenzo (Medici Chapel, market, restaurants, cafes). About a fifteen/twenty min walk to the main sites like the Duomo, Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and speaks perfect English. She has a selection of guide books which you can borrow at no extra cost. Continental breakfast served in your room was also included in the price. Our room was beautifully decorated and very spacious, and even though the building is quite old it is very well maintained, fully air-conditioned and with free wifi, while also retaining a charming Risorgimento-era character. All in all great value for money and would recommend it to anyone. Will certainly stay here again when we return to Florence.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms so book early!

Morag, the owner, is friendly and very helpful with lots of useful advice. The room, which had high ceilings, was quiet, clean and comfortable though a bit dark. The breakfasts, served in the room, were good but a little cramped. Position is within walking distance of most attractions. Very good value for money.

I found Casa di Barbano on Tripadvisor and booked a stay based on the reviews. Casa di Barbano feels more like a B&B than a hotel: the rooms are part of the owner's house. There is a wall that separates the hotel from the owner’s apartment and so you have feel comfortable coming and going without disturbing anyone. Price-wise the rate was affordable and the stay included breakfast (in your room), room service and free wireless.

The hotel is located on a quiet street outside the main tourist area and so it's not noisy. The location is close to several main attractions, including the Duomo, Uffizi and the L’Accademia. Overall the room was decent sized with high ceilings and antique furniture, the bed was comfortable, however, the bathroom felt rather old and dated.

Moraq, the owner, is a gem, during your stay and beyond. Upon checking in, she helped us book tickets for the Uffizi and L’Academia Gallery, despite the site stating there were no more reservations and it was sold out! We ended up buying a Firenze card which gave us access to all the major museums and transit access for 3 days and if you plan accordingly, is well worth the 50 Euro. My husband never got his drivers license from the Uffizi and Moraq not only collected it, but mailed it back to him in the US!

In sum, I would highly recommend Casa di Barbano if you are looking for a nice, comfortable and clean place for your stay in Florence!
