Supposedly the best cacciucco restaurant in Livorno is limping behind its reputation.
Be attentive to the efforts of the head waiter to make you order an unnecessarily huge meal. The cacciucco is large and heavy and can be shared, the crudo part of the antipasto is worth it, but the rest is unremarkable and could be shared just to wet your appetite. It is a homey atmosphere with efficient operation but overrated.
We traveled drove more than an hour to Livorno just to try the Cacciucco at this restaurant, and it was defineately worth it! Try it!
This place is perfect!! The location is very easy to find. The staff very attentive and timely. The seafood is very fresh and tasty... To die for!!!!! And the prices are even better. Highly recommend a visit, two thumbs up!!!
With three hours to kill before the motor rail to Holland, this was the place to go. We arrived at 12.30, to be greeted by the chef, who set our table. We chose a light meal as we would be eating on the train as well. Having been here last summer for my birthday, we had an idea of what was good. The anitpasto Barcarola which has cooked and raw items was excellent, as was the mixed fried fish. Sea Urchin pasta was so so,
The place filled up with families all of whom seemed to be known to the maitre d'. The house wine was pleasant and very cheap and our meal was certainly not expensive. We liked it and will go again in the summer. I have to say that the key note Livornan fish stew is very filling, so we did not go for it this time!
