“Everything you could wish for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.”
Reviewed 16 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Three generations of us have gathered for a wonderful holiday in the Tuscan hillside.
The pool was enjoyed by everyone as it was extremely hot whilst we were there.
Do take plenty of insect repellent as the mosquitoes seemed to like us and keep the shutters closed during the day.
Good directions from Pisa to the Villa.

“Villa Villenia - a fantastic vacation at a beautiful location”

Villa Villenia, nestled in the hills to the north of Tuscany was a wonderful location for 10 friends to gather for a July vacation. It was unusually hot so the lovely pool was put to good use, including at night! We all agreed that the fact it is salt water was particularly pleasant. The owner was exceptionally responsive, arranging for fans and even a back-up fridge so we could cope with the heat. The villa itself is even more charming than its pictures, as other reviews attest. There was plenty of space to disperse both inside and out as well as to gather together to cook and eat in the well-equipped kitchen. Lots of good books in the library too! A number of excellent restaurants in the area and Lucca of course is delightful. Pisa and the coast are also within an easy drive. Will have to come back when its cooler so we can explore the mountains - the one bucket list item we didn't get to.

“Wonderful Tuscan Villa - amazing Views”

This is a great villa for a large group. Lots of space and separate rooms inside. We mostly used the kitchen and open plan dining area but there are plenty of spaces to get away.

The garden and pool area is very pretty and we spent most of our time outside. The garden is not huge but it was fine for our group. The weather was perfect.

We were surprised by the size of the villa, and felt as if we kept discovering new rooms and corridors. It is nicely decorated and very well equipped and has a homely feel. All of the bedrooms are large and the playroom was a real bonus.

The views are stunning, looking out onto lush green hills. So many of the rooms have wonderful views too.

Our party included young children (under 4) and they loved the pool and garden. We felt the villa was fine for them but it may not suit fast crawlers or young toddlers as there are many stairs and the garden is on multiple levels.

The location is very pretty and close to Pisa, Lucca and about an hour from Florence. It's worth noting that a car is essential as it's very hilly and not in a village setting.

I definitely recommend this villa for a large group. John, the owner is really helpful and accommodating.

Our extended family of 6 enjoyed a remarkable experience in the Tuscan hills at the Villa Villenia! Extraordinary design and well-maintained, there is beautiful surprises throughout the home. And the garden and pool sublime. Nestled into the green hills, the views are fantastic, and the surroundings of history and art are truly wonderful. We arrived in early June. Weather was great. Would definitely go again.

“Grand villa ensures many memorable holiday memories”
Reviewed 5 September 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a lovely 6 day stay in this grand villa. It's set in a great location, perched up in the hills outside Lucca with gorgeous views, good-sized pool and plenty of al fresco breakfast, lunch and dinner dining options (on-site as well as nearby) to ensure you leave with plenty of wonderful memories of La Dolce Vita. The rooms are very spacious, with lots of roomy bathrooms too. We are a family of 5 and we stayed with another family of 5 and the villa was large enough and private enough for all of us. The owner takes care to ensure that locals keep his gardens in top order: many beautiful blooms during our July stay. Good shops are only a 5-10 minute drive away and Lucca itself is about 20 mins away. All in all we felt very lucky to have stumbled on this terrific getaway - if there are around 10 of you then this is a perfect option in Northern Tuscany.

“Fabulous villa in a great location with wonderful views”

We spent the first week of June 2014 at Villa Villenia and had a wonderful time - the villa certainly lived up to expectations. It was in a great location with fantastic views and was surrounded by a well-tended garden, with several terraces and a lovely swimming pool. The villa itself was spacious, to the extent that after seven days one could still get lost! The bathrooms were stylish, with a constant supply of hot water and the kitchen was very well equipped, especially useful if you like cooking. A great place to spend a holiday.

We have just returned from this marvellous villa in the heart of Tuscany it truly is a retreat My family of five adults and four children had a wonderful time The villa is huge and exciting lots of rooms on different levels Despite the size it has a great peaceful feel to it and does feel lived in,not at all like a holiday home John the owner was very helpful and booked us a meal for our first night and offered lots of information to help us enjoy our time at his villa. The pool is lovely, salt water and great views The road leading to the house is very narrow in places so take care if arriving after dark. There is a shrine to Our Lady in the garden under a gorgeous fig tree lovely spot to sit and relax We would have liked to have stayed longer we all were amazed at well we slept fantastic for large families
