“Wonderful, charming, delightful place to stay!”

This was a home away from home. Everything you could possibly need was already in the house. Close to Lucca but far enough away that you really felt like you were in the beautiful Italian countryside. Though you need a rental car, and it wouldn't suit people looking for exciting night life, for our family with kids it was perfect. Fab pastry shop down the road as well! There are a lot of levels and stairs to cope with but the two bedrooms at the top of the house were like a fairy tale waking up and looking out over vineyards and hills. Would definitely go back again. Leonardo gave us a pizza cooking lesson and it was amazing, must do!

“Charming Tuscany Villa”
Reviewed September 22, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

This was our first time in Tuscany and we couldn't have asked for a better time. Leonardo was great to work with during the initial booking and planning process, but the real magic was when we met Michelangelo. He was simply fantastic in helping us during our time at Villa Checco. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the villa and hope to return sometime in the future.

“Rustic Charm”
Reviewed September 12, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Stayed in Villa Checco with large family group, ages ranging from 70+ to 20 for a week in hot August. Villa was great and we had a lovely stay. The layout wasn't quite what we were expecting as we didn't realise it is effectively 2 buildings joined, so there is a second kitchen, a bathroom and 2 bedrooms in the second property.....not that that was a problem. The 2 bedrooms in this part are very hot, though, and could do with some mosquito nets on the windows like there are on all the others. We ate in once (too hot to cook!!) and also tried the very cheerful (and very good) Da Nonno Mari - excellent food and value. The pool was small but wonderful...especially for a dip last thing at night. Be warned, however, that there are a lot of steps to get to the pool and terraces, so anyone with mobility problems would have trouble. Lucca was charming and so close (there is a big Carrefours for shopping), PIsa was easy to get to and Florence was only 45 mins away - we took advice and parked out of town, in the car park of Coop Big on Viuzzo delle Case Nuove in Scadicci then took the tram into town....cheap, easy and quite fun! The access to the villa is a bit narrow if you are driving an9 seater minibus as I was, but otherwise, there's no problems using a hire car. Leonardo was very helpful before our arrival and Michalangelo charming and helpful while we were there....he DOES make good pizza! Overall a very good week

“Superb villa in perfect Tuscan surroundings.”
Reviewed July 4, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We chose this villa after a lot of research, as there were going to be a lot of us of differing ages staying (71 year old down to a 4 year old!). It exceeded our expectations. The family who own the house were so friendly, and couldn't have done more to help (also the neighbours, very helpful). It is located up a very narrow road - the photos do not do it justice. With magnificent views, it is such a spacious property. The pool was a godsend as there was a heatwave during our stay. The house seemed to fulfill our every need, with large rooms so everyone could have their own space.
Although it states 'no car needed' we did end up hiring a car, which we feel was definitely required for getting provisions. All 9 of us did travel to Florence one day, which was relatively easy (bus to Lucca then train to Florence).
Would thoroughly recommend the pizza evening! Michaelangelo was charming and cooks the most delicious pizzas. One morning there was a problem with the boiler so there was no hot water in the larger part of the house. The owners ensured it was fixed the same day (but the bathroom in the smaller part of the house was still in full working order throughout). The house is actually in two parts, offering two kitchens, although we only used the main kitchen. The mezzanine bedroom in this smaller section would only be suitable for able bodied people, and got extraordinarily hot at night. A lot of us got covered in mosquito bites (despite there being nets over the majority of the beds and windows) so bring repellent! The plot is terraced, so there are a lot of stairs which has to be considered for younger children/less able bodied people.
All in all the perfect house for our holiday. Thank you so much Michaelangelo (plus Leonardo and your lovely parents).

“Rustic Charm”
Reviewed October 22, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Stayed at villa Checco with large group for family birthday celebrations. The position of the villa is ideal, only 10 minutes drive from the beautiful Lucca, and 20 min drive to Pisa. You will want for nothing at the villa. Best equipt kitchen I have ever seen, you have everything you need down to herb and spices, salt pepper, and even fresh basil growing outside. The living room begs for family gatherings over a few glasses of wine. The oven did break whilst we where there, but was taken away and fixed in a flash.
Great local cafe down the road, and found a fantastic restaurant about a 20 min walk from the villa called Stefano.
We went in September, and I would seriously recommend taking mosquito repellent, tuscany is terrible for mosquitoes that time of year. Villa checco do the best to help, with mosquito nets and plug in repellents.
Villa checco is full if rustic Charm, that is a ideal for large groups. Would definitely recommend it.

“Beautiful Property in a Fabulous setting”

We stayed with friends to celebrate a Birthday, our stay was fabulous, the villa is everything you would expect in Tuscany set in the hills with a vineyard next door and a local wine producer who can supply wine during your stay. Leonardo and Michaelangelo were really helpful and the pizza night was a great success
