San Lorenzo was a great find. Everything was very clean, efficient and well maintained. Perfect location for seeing all of Lucca. If you have a car, you can park it outside the city walls for free and it's a short walk away. The place is a bit hard to find at first since it's on the 3rd floor of the building and not well marked on the outside. Reception hours are limited so if you are looking for staff that are available to answer questions anytime of day this isn't the place. We got a room upgrade which was lovely and a nice surprise. Breakfast is continental style with lots of pastries, breads and yogurt to choose from. They will also cook eggs if requested. We would stay here again.

This is a charming and comfortable little B&B. The building is old, being in Lucca of course, but updated with regard to comfort amenities, and the décor is a nice blend of retaining the old Italy feeling with some artistic refreshments. The common room is particularly inviting, a nice place to sit and read or relax between tourism jaunts, and is always stocked with small snacks and fresh fruit. Our room was likewise very pleasant in décor, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was a nice assortment of fruits, cereals, yoghurt, pastries, cold meats and cheeses and eggs made to order if desired. We'd definitely stay here again when in Lucca. Make sure to ask about the family owned trattoria around the corner where we ate two of our best meals in Italy!

A beautiful and very elegant B&B in the heart of Lucca . Daniela and Michele are such gracious hosts, and they made our stay such a memorable one . The room was very comfortable and spacious with a seperate sitting area and private outdoor terrace, beds were super comfortable .
We can't say enough about how satisfied we were with our stay here at the Relais San Lorenzo . So many nice touches like fresh flowers in the room and brandy with other refreshments in the lounge area in the evening and such a wonderful breakfast each morning to start the day of exploring Lucca .
Thank you Daniela and Michele for everything !
Hope to visit again in the near future !

As noted by previous guests, this B&B is a bit hard to find, but once settled in, you will find it an oasis. The only 'noise' my wife and I experienced was the chirping of birds in the morning. Some construction was going on as well later in the day, but we were out and it didn't bother us. Relais San Lorenzo is a B&B, with just five rooms, not a hotel, and guests should adjust their expectations to that fact. We had no problem with the owner not being there all the time. We got all that we could out of her (and that was a LOT!) when she was in, and she did offer a telephone contact were we to need her at other hours (we didn't). The rooms are in an old building, but our room was well kept. We had no need for extra towel exchanges. Some reviews remarked on the paucity of food for breakfast. This was NOT our experience! An egg cooked to order in addition to croissants and a dozen different cakes and breads -- not to mention yogurt, cheese, fruit, and coffee -- all this served in a spacious dining/sitting room. We had enough for a little lunch we took with us when out.

The location is surely one of the best within the walled city: in the NW quadrant, near the main street (Via Fillungo) but undisturbed by it. Also near the Basilica San Frediano, my favorite of the many splendid churches, and the Ampitheater, which contains an exciting collection of shops and a market that is just plain fun. Thanks to Danielle for a marvelous stay. We certainly hope to return!

This place exceeded our expectations. Our room was actually like an apartment with a separate sitting are and a large outside private terrace! It was very comfortable and quiet. The communal lounge/dining room is beautiful. Breakfast is ok and you can have cooked eggs too. It is very well located just inside the walls and easy to walk everywhere. The owners are very helpful and friendly - if you drive into Lucca just make sure you ask them to register your car online so that you don't get fined - we hadn't realised driving in was restricted as it's hard to understand the signs. But easy enough to park outside the walls for your stay. We would stay here again - it was lovely.

Room Tip: Madame Butterfly room is vast with a sitting area and private outside terrace.
