If you stay in Siena for a couple of days, you really must take Franco's wine tour. Like most folks, we did the Montalcino Wine Tour. Franco and his crew were very responsive to last minute e-mails to set up a tour with some other interested people.

Like many other reviewers, we went to two wineries for Brunello tasting and tours and went to lunch in a super neat little town at a great trattoria with good food and amazing wine. The Tuscan countryside is also a major feature of the tour. Absolutely beautiful rolling hills as you pass through the farms and scenic towns.

Franco is a real character which helps make the tour so entertaining. He is very knowledgeable, talkative, and willing to answer all questions regarding wine and the area. He's also quick with a joke and to bust the chops of his guests where appropriate.

The only downside is that there is a lot of time riding in the van. It takes a solid 90 minutes or so to pick everyone up, get the bread and cheese for the tastings, and then get out to the first winery. The roads are also very sharp and winding. Everyone tends to eat and drink too much when they are in Italy so there may be a certain level of queasiness during the ride.

Overall, well worth the money and time for a memorable experience.

Franco was a great find for us to see and do in Montalcino. We experienced some great Brunellos all with their own distinct styles. Franco's passion for excellence is shown in the 3 wineries and olive oil processing (bought some fresh pressed) we visited and had the best meal at Trattoria il Pozzo. The views were stunning all along the way. You can tell Franco enjoys what he does and the people love having him bring guests. I am an executive sommelier and would recommend this for the novice as well as the professional. The only problem is I bought too much wine and I blame that on Franco for taking us to such good wineries but there was no pressure to buy at all. We shipped from the last winery visited with ease. Highly recommend this full day plus to see and do so much. If you are looking for a quick tour this is not for you, but if you want the full deal, there is nothing better.

We just got back from a fabulous day of sightseeing and wine tastings at three distinct wineries on his Brunello tour. Franco is extremely passionate about the region of Montalcino and the wines being produced. All the wineries were wonderful and each was unique from the others. He took us to a delicious lunch ( Trattorio il Pozzo). The scenery at each location and in between is spectacular. We had a very unforgettable 10 hours and we will certainly be taking another tour w Franco in the future.

Franco has been running tours for over 20 years. He offers an authentic and personal touch to his tour that made my wife and I feel truly lucky and thankful to have had the opportunity. If you're considering a wine tour or a day-trip to Siena, we recommend considering Franco for your Tuscany Tour guide. We did the Brunello Tour, which included an early morning pickup at our B&B, espresso in a small town on the way out to the wineries (40 min out), 2 delicious wineries/tours (including wines, grappas, and, if taking the tour in late Oct, FRESH OLIVE OIL yum), and lunch which was hands-down the best meal we had in Italy!

Franco caters his tour to his audience and includes you in the trip planning. He makes adjustments on the fly which makes me believe no two tours are alike.

My husband and I were in Siena for 4 nights and on a Saturday around 5 we went on google in search of a good wine tour in hopes someone could get us in last minute. I saw all the great reviews for Franco and emailed him. He got back to me within an hour or 2 saying we could join the Monday Brunelo Monticino tour. Perfect!

We were to meet him at our hotel for an 830 pick up... well we got out there at our time and hopped in a van with a driver ... nice guy but about 15 min in we realized this was not our tour! Calls were made we were brought back to the hotel. And Franco and our tour came back to get us! We felt bad about it but Franco and the 3 other couples made us feel ok and we were off on the tour!

As everyone says - Laura from the Oct 4th tour said it all perfectly- Franco is good at what he does. He’s local. He knows what he’s talking about and really is passionate about it all. He seems to have great relationships with everyone and seems to have a great heart (and we found out he’s a huge animal lover- and in my books you can’t go wrong there)

The hotel had brochures for another company but the reviews seemed not very good. Pay the extra money to do the tour with Franco. You won’t be disappointed
