Whist I cannot fault the staff here, (they were all helpful and charming), I felt sorry for them working in such a dive. The one picture that advertises this hotel is of a courtyard that maybe is only used in summer, otherwise it's irrelevant . This hotel was clearly turned into a hotel in the 70s and has not been updated since. (I saw a claim by the hotel it had been refurbished - clearly a total lie). It was done cheaply too then with little taste or style.
It was 110 euros a room, which was cheaper than other hotels quoted but seemed very expensive for what you got. The breakfast was served in a dank dirty windowless room, and consisted of packaged food and instant powder cappuccino. Quite awful.
One to avoid- did not make Siena seem charming.
I think we found this place on Hostelworld, but it was so cozy and quiet. Perfect for how quaint Siena is. We were so sad to have only stayed one night. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the lady at the front desk spoke English really well. They serve your pretty decent breakfast in the morning and my cappuccino was perfect!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. We are really happy you have enjoyed your stay in Siena with us!!
We arrived late and let ourselves in with a key that was left in an envelope at the front desk. It was quiet and kind of spooky. Our room, straight up a steep , narrow staircase was cute, with a lovely little balcony with vines overlooking a courtyard. Kind of like staying at old aunt ethel's house, kind of kooky, balcony picturesque but neglected. Very noisy neighbours in other buildings, oh and if you are makin' out the paper thin walls will find you out. wow. (I was with my teen-age daughter....awkward. :))In the morning it was lovely watching the swooping birds, the morons in the room above us tossed their coffee out their window and were seconds from missing me on our balcony? Wow! The room was straight up a quaint street from the main square, an excellent location. Breakfast was o.k. It was an experience to be sure and I got lots of books read!
On our way to Siena we learned our original hotel was under construction and we were transferred to Il Casato. Our concerns were immediately put aside. The location is wonderful with easy walks to the Il Campo and the Duomo. The room was very nice. If one was travelling with lots of family it had lots of public space to gather, including a garden terrace. Would stay again.
siamo stati felicissimi che vi siate trovati bene e ci auguriamo di riavervi presto a Siena. Un abbraccio dall'Italia Caterina
Great location, 14th century building, beautiful ivy covered balcony overlooking a small garden area, great vaulted ceilings in the rooms and halls, plenty of salon space. No AC in my room, but it was not necessary, end of August, beginning of September, the nights are cool and you need a blanket. Good value! Would stay there again definitely. Close to Piazza del Campo and walking distance to all the sights. Perfect.
Dear Guests, is very pleasure for us have you in our place.Thank you for your feed back. I hope to see you soon in Siena. Caterina
