We arrived amidst the excitement and chaos of il Palio, the famous horse race around the del Campo square. Alma Domus provided a cool sanctuary away from the crowds of people and lived up to its name of providing a 'room with a view'. It is in a great location, friendly staff, clean rooms and a good breakfast.

We had stayed at this hotel once before on our way to a wedding, this time we were in Siena for Palio for 3 nights. As we had a great stay previously we booked two rooms this visit for us & friends. We had rooms 9 & 10 which have the small balcony & fabulous views. We really enjoy the location of the hotel, it is close enough to the campo & all the sights but also tucked away. You can drive to the hotel just to unload your luggage (but you must give your number plate to reception otherwise you will get a ticket as camera's monitor all traffic which enter) then you will have to move your car to a carpark. The rooms are clean & comfortable. The breakfast is basic & you can order one cappuccino/expresso etc per person. The reception staff are very helpful. There are a couple of great places to eat nearby - if you like 'refined & inventive' meals visit Il Campaccio & if you want an amazing lunch antipasto platter head around the corner to Toscano Golosa .

This is no frills, but what a pretty, welcoming place to be. They saved my life, after a terrible experience at a different place. It's location is beautiful with great views. Maintenance is squeaky clean. Nice breakfast and very warm, kind staff.

We stayed two nights in this nicely located hotel in Siena. The days we were there it was extremely hot, so the A/C was very welcome. The room was clean and the staff very friendly. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is a bit out of the way if you are driving. You park around the corner and up the hill from the hotel, take your bags down many steps, and then down steps again to the hotel entrance. Once you are checked in, you must move your car across several blocks away to a free public parking lot. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. There is a lot of food to choose from, but most of it just isn't very appetizing. Other reviewers have mentioned the burned croissants. They are still burning them!

Our room had a mini balcony with a great view. We were also there in the weeks leading up to the Palio and the excitement in town was palpable. We could hear the bands from our room. The location couldn't be better. It is just up hill from the convent of St. Catherine of Siena and an easy (if you don't mind hills) walk from just about anything you would want to see. We had a wonderful evening meal at the Piazza del Campo during some of the pre Palio festivities. Although it was crowded, we never felt as though it was too crowded.

This hotel was a great value, and we would definitely stay there again.

We had reviewed this hotel on TA prior to booking and we were very pleased with what we had read. Whilst in Italy, prior to arriving, we looked again and were slightly concerned at some of the more recent comments. We need not have worried at all!

Whilst not the easiest hotel to find, it was worth it when we did. Initially down some wide steps and then some 'normal' steps, be prepared for a few minutes of hard work with your suitcase, what greets you at the end is worth it.

Our room was number 10 and was lovely: large, spotless, with welcome air conditioning and the most amazing views of the city - they really are stunning! The bathroom was a generous size, with a good powerful shower.

The breakfast had a lot of options, however catered more for a sweeter taste, lots of cakes.

There have been a few previous comments regarding 'rules'. There is a small booklet of rules in the bedroom, however, these requests are asking people to be respectful, which I feel is perfectly acceptable. I guess the reason that 'rules' have to be introduced is because not everyone is respectful.

All the staff were very friendly.

We very much enjoyed our two nights at this lovely hotel and would genuinely look forward to staying again.
