OK - we had a car. This place is maybe 10 minutes from downtown Assisi. It is up in the hills above Assisi in groves of olive trees. The owners operate the family olive farm (we shipped a bunch of it home because it is fantastic). Back to the accommodations. We enjoyed a three night stay and our favorite things were
1. Dinners at the restaurant right in the Agriturismo. Meals were fabulous. Grilled meats, fresh cheese from the farm, fresh vegetables, great wines.
2. Swimming pool - perfect place to chill after active days sightseeing
3. Sunsets from anywhere on the property.
Rooms were good but the grounds and everything else is superior! Staff is helpful. Just a great experience.

Lovely relaxing place to stay with fantastic views and lots of delicious locally produced food. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide selection of appetising food. Great walks to Assisi and Spello. Definitely worth visiting the monastery above La Mandrie and continuing the walk into Assisi. We stayed in the cottage which was a bit of a hike up to the restaurant and swimming pool if you didn’t want to use the car, but had the advantage of being very peaceful set amongst the olive groves. We would stay again and would recommend to people that love good food, walking and a peaceful location.

It was slightly difficult to find because it is so high up the mountain. Once we arrived, we were greeted by fabulous views of the valley and sounds of the birds. It is a rustic place but clean and up to date. The locals frequent the restaurant in the evenings. The menu doesn't change much daily but the staff were more than accommodating when we requested home made soup. Everyday was an adventure down and back up the mountain side. We loved it.

We had heard wonderful things about Le Mandrie, but our dinner there surpassed all our expectations. Our party of four enjoyed the bistecca alla florentina and OMG. I have never had steak so wonderful and perfectly seasoned. We've called the meal a "spirtual experience" several times since - top notch culinary paired with spectacular views made for a top lifetime experience. Don't miss out on the olive oil...we tried several on our trip and bought a large bottle to bring home. We learned later that our taste buds were on point, they've received several awards for their oil and it's easy to see why. Don't miss this gem on the top of a hill!

When our wedding planner provided us with a spreadsheet of options for villas in Tuscany and Umbria to host 40-50 guests, there was something about Le Mandrie di San Paolo and their farm-to-table approach to food that immediately spoke to us. Having never travelled to Italy before our wedding in September, let alone our wedding venue, we did not really know what to expect, but Le Mandrie di San Paolo exceeded every expectation we could have had! From the moment we arrived (we stayed for 4 nights, with 40 guests staying onsite) their team was on hand to answer questions, help organise our guests, and somehow knew what we needed before we had even figured it out (including finding quotations for dry cleaning and taxis much lower than our wedding planner!). The wedding day, and every day leading up to and after it, was perfectly managed by their always smiling, gracious, and hard-working team. The location, perched up on the hillside overlooking the valley, was stunning. The food, sensational! Every meal was made with the freshest, home grown vegetables and home made cheeses, olive oil and breads. I highly recommend the cacio e pepe, but honestly everything was good. We cannot wait to come back here with our friends and children and try to do it all again.

Room tip: Family rooms are located away from the main building (steep slope), which would not be best for people with mobility restraints.
