Visited the spot 4 times during my stay in Perugia, its delicious sandwiches and cold cuts/cheese plates are all local, fresh and delicious. The owner Luca is friendly and very informed. HIGHLY recommend it.

We visited Antica Norcineria three times whilst in Perugia at the end of March, and enjoyed each visit.

The host was very friendly, spoke good English and was very tolerant of our terrible Italian, and enjoyed taking us through the food and drink on offer, but also giving us tips on where to visit locally.

Drink selection was focused on a limited selection of carefully chosen drinks. We drank the house wine (very reasonable, especially for the quality) and tried a couple of the local beers. All were great and it was nice to try some of the locally sourced craft beers from Perugia and Assisi.

We had lunch here on one of the visits. I had a platter of the meat and cheese on offer. I chose the €12 medium platter which was huge, probably plenty for two, and allowed me to try all that was on offer. My girlfriend, who is vegetarian, had a panini with a selection of roasted vegetables and cheeses. It was very nice. She had hoped to have the spinach cannelloni, however it had run out for the day. Not the end of the world.

Set up is a bit interesting - very much an informal setting, where you order and collect your drinks and food from the counter and set own your table, due to the lack of a restaurant license. We liked how casual it was, however if you're looking for something sophisticated, beyond good food and wine, this is probably not for that occasion.

Overall, really enjoyed our visits and would definitely recommend popping in for an aperitif.

Once you step in, you realize that this is a friendly establishment, one in which you start talking to the person you did not know before sitting at the next table.

They have nice salumi, wonderful cheese selection and good wine. They are young and willing to build a name and you should go and visit them.

They claim that they do not have a restaurant license and you need to step to the counter and take the order, clean the table after you are done or before in case the others did not do it for you. Also you have plastic forks and glasses. It did not bother me, it actually brings a taste of coziness to the place and makes it informal.

The few points that makes me give them 3 out of 5.
- The cheese selection was good. But most of the cheese seemed to be the same cheese with different fillings (peperoncino, truffle, nuts). At one point it becomes boring to taste the same cheese. Also, there were some other more interesting formaggi in the fridge but we did not get them... not sure of how they make their tagleri.
- I can understand that it is not a restaurant, but if the table is dirty there should be no law restraining you from cleaning it before the new patrons arrive. Place was not crowded.
- Place closes at 11PM. The guy at the bar started to seal the salumis at 10:20. Probably he would have unsealed it had we wished to order some meat. But I still think that the host needs to clean up after the guests leave. Debate-able, I know. I may be emphasizing this for the wrong reasons.
- I found pieces of plastic in my mouth from the confiture. I kept thinking that they could have come from the broken plastic forks of previous clients and that ruined my night. Again, maybe I am over-reacting and this was in the confiture from the beginning, but still it does not help the review.
