The staff made us feel incredibly unwelcome. I work in customer service myself, and although I know that tourists can be annoying, I like to think that I never treat people the way we were treated in this hotel. On the first night, we were told off by the bar staff for using euro notes instead of change (even though we had only just arrived so had not had time to break into our notes). They had no set price list, the prices seemed to fluctuate as the staff saw fit! As soon as people in the area heard that we were British we were glared and and treated with disrespect and suspicion. My friend and I were told that there were “noise complaints” coming from our room....we had got in about 2 minutes beforehand and were speaking in near whispers! The hotel itself is a simple but clean place with everything you need, and the breakfast was lovely. It took us ages to be served at the bar due to how understaffed they are and the staff genuinely acted like it was a massive chore to help us. They seemed to do the bare minimum, and made me feel like I was treading on eggshells. I feel we were treated with a lot of disrespect and hardly listened to. If you are Italian you may enjoy the service at this hotel, but the staff are clear my biased against foreigners.
