The biggest must-see in Basel, and if you want to get a true sense of its purpose, you should pop along to midday prayers each day at 12 for 20 minutes. It’s in German but it’s easy to follow and they will help you if you’re stuck.
The building is magnificent, in a Protestant sort of way. It isn’t especially ornate (as you might expect, not being Roman Catholic) but is IS grand and has real dignity and a sense of the peace of God.
