The biggest must-see in Basel, and if you want to get a true sense of its purpose, you should pop along to midday prayers each day at 12 for 20 minutes. It’s in German but it’s easy to follow and they will help you if you’re stuck.

The building is magnificent, in a Protestant sort of way. It isn’t especially ornate (as you might expect, not being Roman Catholic) but is IS grand and has real dignity and a sense of the peace of God.

I love this church. When I studied abroad in Germany, we would travel to Basel and spend the afternoon in the church courtyard. The view of the Rhein River is breath taking and totally worth seeing from the church. Also, musicians and dancers would perform in the yard and it added to the experience. This is a must see in Basel.

Basel is famous for its industries but is a beautiful city for leisure too.
Sharing borders with France and Germany it's an ideal stay if you are planning to visit Paris and Black forest.
The bullet train from Zurich to Paris passes through Basel.
For Black forest you can hop trains via Titisee

Great, old church with awesome views overlooking the Rhine River. Very nice keepers in the church. We arrived there late and a kind gentleman offered to personally escort us first thing the next morning.

Basel Munster Cathedral with breathtaking views of the Rhein, the Kleinbasel district, the black forest & the Vosges. Dates back to the 15 century. We climbed up to the tower not for the light hearted as the platform is very narrow to walk around.
