Pretty gardens overall. Some lovely blooms to see.
However, once you have seen the Butchart gardens in Canada I am afraid everything else appears average.
My wife really wanted to go and for me, it was, really just to see Roses? At the end, however, I must admit that it was fine. The parking is very close to the gate. During the festival, the ticket prices are a bit more expenses, but a lot is happening, You can buy beer, ice-creams and there are at least a few places to eat something. The view is spectacular. There is also a playground for children. During the last week event, they also had live music shows and a small amusement park. We enjoyed.
It's a beautiful roses garden but to be honest, nothing spectacular. I would expected more flowers, although they are beautiful and we'll cared. The view of old town Bern from the garden (very high ground) is impressive and must be seen. Prepare for a uphill walk or take transportation to higher ground and then walk to the garden.
The day was beautiful and it was a Great Wall. The garden is a small park with a mix of paths, flowers and fountains. There is restaurant where you can eat or just have a drink.
Our only regret is that it was a bit too early for the roses to be blooming. That said, there was an abundance of lovely rhododendron and other flowers in full bloom. The garden is free to all, and is immaculately maintained. One side is given to a fantastic overlook of Bern's old city and the Aare, complete with a stone wall and many benches. Well worth strolling through. It has a popular restaurant (reservations will help) that some of the friends we traveled with tried, and said it was excellent.
