We visited last September/October time (2017), the hotel is a short walk from the train station. We were lucky in getting a modern refurbished room. The room was clean and a great size for the two of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting places we must visit. The only area for improvement for the hotel is the breakfast, it was very basic with little to offer.
Opposite the hotel is a restaurant/bar called Les Brasseurs - would recommend visiting here for food and for the beer, great atmosphere!

Positives: Less than 100m from train station (only the Hotel Bernina is closer on that side of the station). Rooms are small but very clean; extra pillows; friendly and helpful desk staff. Free bus/tram passes (we went to UN and Red Cross HQs by tram). Ten minutes to walk to the lake. Nearby middle eastern/Morrocan restaurants; we also enjoyed Bombay restaurant, but none are inexpensive. There are more snack options and a small grocery store in the train station. Completely acceptable simple cold breakfast buffet. There is a "free" cell phone to use in the room--we did not know what that meant but you can try it out and see.
Negatives: This echos some of the previous reviews but provides more perspective. We stayed on two separate nights about a week apart. Yes, the elevator is tiny and only holds one person and luggage, but operates quickly and the stairs are next to it (so use the stairs and do not complain). What does no air conditioning mean?: It is over 80 degrees Fahrenheit in Geneva in the summer. The rooms have windows that tilt open (no screens but we had no insects). When you close the curtains at night there is, then, no fresh air circulating. Using the shower makes the room warmer still. Are you miserable= no; are you moderately uncomfortable= yes; do you survive the night= of course. The fan in each room helps quite a bit (and can mask some street noise). The cost of 133CHF is really quite inexpensive, so you can decide. Room 309 faces the street so noisier; on our second stay we asked for a room facing the quieter parking lot (402) and it had a bigger room and bigger shower and two windows (but no circulation when the curtains are closed at night). We also received a fruit plate on our second visit for unknown reasons, but it was good. As usual in Europe, no wash cloth, only liquid shower soap, no lotion (so bring your own).

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from the main street.

When you enter the hotel it looks old and raggedy. The person at the front desk is nice, he gives bus passes for our stay and parking ticket for a rebate on the parking price. The elevator lift is tiny you can barely fit 2 people in there with any luggage. The hallways are kind of dark with an old smell to them and the rooms are frightening. Rooms are tiny you can't even open luggage on the floor, they're dark and the carpet smells. Worst of all no AC in August when it was 30 degrees, they give you a small fan from the 1900s and outside is very noisy until at least 3am, good luck sleeping. Breakfast is ok, nothing special. Will definitely never go back and never recommend this hotel. Too many improvements to be done.

Check was friendly and quick.rooms are very hot no air conditioning and we found out that they turn the hot water down in summer so for 2 days it was cold outside so we wanted a hot shower no it is luke warm . We asked for it to be turned up but no . Paper cups in rooms for tea and coffee but we asked and got China ones. It has a safe in the room . Rooms are Just big enough for two but not really 2. Big suitcases so we had to open them on the bed . The location is great for train station.and a 5 min walk to lake . There is a shop to get milk groceys 3 or 4 shops around the corner. You get given passes for transport free to use in the city plus a wifi mobile phone to use while out .it could be better but you pay for what they offer if you don’t like it it’s better to book else where but location for us was they key for the trains

This hotel has no air conditioning, the lift is only big enough for one person,it’s really noisy & the room was small & quite clostrophobic!! All in all not to be recommended!! Breakfast was okay but not great! All rather disappointing as Best Western are usually fairly good!!
